I played my fill of the original Isaac that cost $5 however many years ago it was that it came out.

I'm thinking about grabbing voez but the soundtrack and general aesthetic is totally not my thing.

Fair point, I've had it on PC/Vita for ages but only played it off and on until recently, when I watched some NorthernLion videos and the game finally clicked for me.

Eh, I've grown to accept its... unique styling. If it were reskinned it'd probably have a bigger audience, but it would also lose a little bit of its "charm", in my opinion.

Rebirth/Afterbirth added enough content that I feel like it's worth the $25 I paid after GCU discount/Best Buy rewards certificate, but I totally see where you're coming from.

I've ignored the progression and goals and stuff (mostly because I''ve only been able to make it past Mom's Heart a couple times), I'm really more interested in seeing how the items play off of each other and trying to turn a run with medicore items into a good run (even though I usually don't). But yeah, it's a completionist's nightmare. The one thing it has going for it, though, is that it's easy to hammer a couple of runs out and call it a night. I can't see myself doing 13+ hour marathons of BoI they way I did with, say, Breath of the Wild.

Correct, getting the "full bundle" from scratch on Steam costs $36 currently. I think a lot of people who got it incrementally are probably retroactively surprised how much it cost them. See also: people complaining about the cost of the Switch dock without looking at how much generic USB-C + USB-A + HDMI dongles are on Amazon.

I mean, to be fair to me, I've never seen anyone refer to 1-2-Switch as a "new Nintendo IP," but I guess technically speaking, it is.

It also owns, and I've had tons of fun with friends playing it, so I think when people say 1-2-Switch is "bad," they mean that they don't have any friends who like fun to play it with or maybe they try to Quick Draw by themselves and think it's a bad investment.

I mean, it does seem that people mean "series" or "franchise" when they say IP, but there's no definition of intellectual property that wouldn't include anything developed and/or published by Nintendo as Nintendo's IP.

I agree with your second paragraph though. I had a ton of fun Friday night playing with my brother and I have a feeling that every time I played it with a new person, it would be fun all over again. The only fair argument against it is the price. $20-30 should be the maximum price range for that game.
