They were great IMO it's just that they're only relevant for so little of the overall runtime of the game.

Fangz posted:

One argument that the Yorha project is actually cyclical comes from the Emil Head weapon story: http://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/Emil+Heads

You can read this a number of ways. Maybe it suggests even ending E isn't happy and Emil is back in time from that.

Another possibility though is that the current date is not actually 11945 but actually 12423, that the Yorha project has been through phases of being created and destroyed, with 2B reincarnated each time. This might also account for the other Yorha related weapon stories, which might be difficult to fit into the story if the whole Yorha offensive is as recent as it seems.

Given that YoRHa command lies about humanity still being alive if it is cyclical I wouldn't put it past them to lie about the date either to make every new generation of YoRHa units think they're the first new generation of YoRHa since they presumably use the same model numbers and names, just update the specs

There are androids on the surface that predate the collapse of the Gestalt Project, let alone the alien invasion, so I'd assume if there were supposed to be multiple YoRHa Projects in the past we'd have had somebody say something about the topic.

I got the first secret boss down after doing ending A-E and saw one labeled "SPOILERS IN THIS ACHIEVEMENT SO NOT TELLING YOU WHAT IT IS". I bought it because I thought my game was bugged (I mean, I had all the spoiler achievements already I thought) and it wound up being the "see all endings" one.

Went and did it anyway but woof that doesn't feel good.

Anemone remembered pretty much everything about A2 and the rest of their squad, which was probably like a thousand years ago. She had been on earth for 200 years before the pearl harbor descent.

If the official timeline is correct, the Pearl harbor drop was 4 years before the events of the game. And they had to write it down to not forget about it.
