Shooting Blanks posted:How active is this game these days? Base game is down to $12.30 right now, considering buying it. DLCs are two categories: cosmetics and season passes. The cosmetics are obviously totally optional. There's a pack to unlock all of last year's DLC operators (8 in total) but you can grind them out for free too. It doesn't take *that* long to unlock a DLC operator for free but it'll take quite awhile to unlock all 8. This year's season pass unlocks the two operators that were released this season and will unlock the 6 that will be released in the next 3 seasons. There's 20 operators in the base game that you'll unlock fairly quickly and everyone is pretty well balanced so you won't be at a disadvantage if you don't have the DLC operators. Basically you don't need any DLC to play right away at all and if you decide you want more variety without grinding you can just buy the DLC operator pack/season pass at any time.

By base game make sure it isn't the starter version that raises the price of everything uses in game currency. The season pass DLC unlocks the DLC operators. You can unlock them using in game currency though. I've unlocked pretty much all the base game operators and 2 DLC operators after a month and a half of playing. it's a similar system to LoL where you can do fine without unlocking all the operators, but if you have them it can give you a situational advantage.

So uh I just had an accidental TK in ranked and as I had accidentally killed the hostage earlier in the match it kicked me and banned me from ranked for 15 minutes. Ok whatever, fine. After 15 minutes i rejoin my dudes (they were still in the same match), i rejoined and it instantly kicked me and said I was banned from all multiplayer for 30 minutes for team killing. HARD!

Minus when server issues pop up, I generally don't wait much longer than a minute to get into a match. Sometimes. But there are plenty of players. And on the operators, unlock the originals first. Minus Tachanka and IQ; they can easily be passed on. For the Year 1's, Hibana and Frost are good first picks. Capitao and Echo definitely seem the weakest links. Shelling out the $5 for one of the good ones might not be a bad idea, as grinding for just one can be about 80 matches assuming you average 300 renown and no boosters active. More if you play ranked. Haven't had that exact problem, but I do wish the game was better about detecting motive behind TK's. I have been banned for completely accidental kills, whether my fault or someone walking into my path, but others who intentionally kill me at the start aren't kicked instantly. Yes, they should *hopefully* be kicked by the second kill if they do, but I think it should be instant.

Buck is cool but I don't think I'm aggressive enough. For defenders it was Doc, Smoke and Kapkan because they're awesome. Though i wanted to practice roaming with Kapkan but he's a little slow and Frost is always taken. Might have to try with Smoke when I'm back to the UK.

Would be nice if you got replay controls on the kill cam and more info. I usually run shadowplay just so I can watch the "wtf" ones. Shame I didn't get the nitro cell that hit the front of my extended Montange shield then teleported directly behind me.
