Sacramento already has more rookie talent than Philly had up until like year 3 of their rebuild.

Hinkie wouldn't repeat the process because he doesn't need to.

The importance of this mission cannot be overemphasized
Yeah the idea that if Hinkie gets another GM job he's going to automatically tear it down and tank for three years again is off the mark I think. He's gone on the record several times that in Philly it was just to him the most logical way forward based on his evaluation of the situation. He was assistant GM to Morey in Houston if you remember where post-Yao they sat in the 'not good enough to challenge for a title, not bad enough to get in the lottery' category for several seasons biding their time for what ended up being Harden (somewhat fortuitously, but that's another conversation) .

I mean, he won't do that automatically, but it's a pretty logical move in Sacramento as well.

You can get top tier talent with the right draft person. John Hammond pretty much built a super talented team with mostly mid rounders.

The Kings still have Vlade in charge which kills everything

Buddy Hield's three into inbounds steal and second three was one of the sickest plays I've seen all year. Still pretty doubtful it was a good trade.

That's a nice set of 11 dynasty points there, it would be a shame if 3 rings were to happen with it

The Buddy part was fine.

The first rounder was fine.

The protection was not.

The fact that there was only one was not.

The fact we gave Omri Casspi was not.

Arguably the Kings gave up 2 of the best 3 players in the deal and got a top-3 protected pick for their efforts

None of their players are likely to turn into superstars, but some could end up being solid starters. They are also all on their rookie deals. And they should be bad enough to get a top 3 pick next year. None of those things were true about Philly when Hinkie got there.

I'm not saying that Hinkie wouldn't trade WCS or Papagiannis if the right deal came around, but there's no need to do a complete teardown because the team has already been mostly torn down. Rudy Gay, Collison, Lawson, and Tyreke are gone this summer. And every other vet will be shopped regardless of whether its Hinkie or Vlade in charge.

Technically they were bad enough to get into the lottery, unfortunately they were the best non-playoff team for like four years in a row and always picked at 14

They are letting him do more of what he is used to in SAC, i.e. have the ball more often. He was used more as shooter than a scorer in NOLA.

The first thing hinkie would need to do is get 2019 back tho. Good thing it's only Bryan colangelo.

That's no accident or coincidence. Bliss is part of a new breed of NBA assistant coaches that have fueled the boom of young talent in the league. With teams spending increasingly less time on the practice floor and rest becoming a valued commodity, front offices have started searching for alternate ways to bring along their youngest players. One possible counter, teams have found, is to fill their coaching and video departments with young and spry former players like Bliss, assistants who boast both brains and brawn, who can help both off the court and on.

"Being big, guys like that can bang in practice with your bigs, especially with teams like ours whose main guys don't practice a lot," an assistant general manager of a veteran-laden team told Bleacher Report. "Those assistants, they can step in and help your young guys learn."
