Mass Effect 2 had more swearing in it than 3 iirc but it was there. Personally it's super weird to me when M rated games don't have copious swearing, y'all motherfuckers know that's not how people actually talk.

The most controversial thing I remember Shepard saying from the original trilogy was about hauling Joker's crippled rear end off the Normandy.

You can absolutely swear a shitload in Mass Effect 2, you just have to pick more Renegade options or interrupts. I'm also like 90% sure your character can swear in Inquisition, I'm less sure about Dragon Age 1 and 2 though.

Also (Kadara spoilers) gently caress you Sloane. You do nothing but declare yourself Queen and try to order me around and you think I owe you a drat thing while Reyes has been helping me since I first set foot on the planet. My only regret is that the sniper didn't get a headshot.

Here is my new favorite bug: The 3rd Dadryder memory is of a family gathering. And for whatever reason Sara wouldn't load into the scene. No matter how many times I tried quitting, reloading, going elsewhere and coming back, she doesn't appear. No model, no voice. But the rest of the characters act like she's there, pausing to listen, respond to what she says etc. At one point Momryder's arms loop around empty space, where a shoulder should be. In my head, Sara's mind just can't wrap around seeing herself so SAM blocked it out to prevent her going mad. Here is my new favorite task: At one point on Aya you are asked to collect messages from the Angarans and send it on to the Nexus. You are given a choice to send as-is or edit it. If you decide to edit any of them, Director Tann send you an irate email about how the messages seem suspiciously one-sided. Nothing further comes of this, it's just a nice character moment. Here is my new favorite gun: A Hurricane SMG with seeking augment. You point it just to the side of guys behind cover, pull the trigger and they are assaulted by SWARMS OF ANGRY BEES.

Those two in particular seem broke as gently caress when added to weapons not intended for them (Beam Weapons are worthless REGARDLESS, Heatsink just causes some weird problems esp. with sniper rifles). If you want recommendations the Hurricane and Piranha are the best all around pistol and shotgun respectively, and the Sweeper is a pretty decent AR which has heat-based built in so it actually uses the mechanic correctly. The weird thing is that crafting seems entirely broken for some people, weirdly off but still manageable for other (me, for ex.) and working perfectly fine for some. Like I'm having a problem where the listed damage numbers don't seem accurate at all, but the guns I make in crafting actually WORK at least, whereas I've heard from three or four people now saying the guns they craft literally do no damage. Jack says gently caress a whole bunch in ME2. The only one I remember in dragon age was in the Trespasser DLC where you can have the character go on an insane rant about how everything is always going wrong, but that's probably not it and I just don't remember.

There was this weird moment in games (I think between ME1 and ME2) where saying "gently caress" was something that was just Not Done in the vast majority of titles. I think it wasn't until GTA/Max Payne and maybe one or two others that blatantly violated that taboo, the sky didn't fall, and everyone else started doing it. The same thing happened with explicit nudity more recently.

Does Adults Only still exist as a possible rating? I think there was a long time after the Hot Coffee scandal where games were afraid of getting pulled from shelves for being too adult, and that we're starting to see that shift along with the culture in general.
