Friends of mine once went on what Google Maps tells me is a six hour drive, each way, to Milan over a weekend specifically to have pizza in Italy.

There is shelf-stable glorp mayonnaise the consistency of peanut butter smeared inappropriately over everything, and there is something you dip frites into. I say this as mayonnaise- AND fry-hater.

Mayonnaise haters ITT should try making homemade mayo sometime. You lose a lot in translation with mass produced mayo that cheaps out on ingredients. Olive oil, lemon juice, egg yolk, white wine vinegar, salt. Add other spices if you wanna be fancy, like dry mustard. Anyway, I regret not taking a photo of my dinner last night, because this thread would have loved the way my American/Plastic cheese slices melted in such a way as to completely coat my hamburgers in a layer of smooth yellow goop, like a salty fondant.

And best mixed with sriracha or fake wasabi, or turned into tartare or aoli. It's a bit boring on its own.

Apologies for no pics, but I made AFP for breakfast by completely screwing up oatmeal in the microwave. Left it too long and it bubbled over because I forgot to stir it and the bowl I used was too small; thankfully I had a plate under it so I don't have to clean the microwave, but half my oatmeal is on the plate and both it and the bowl will need a good scrubbing. I put maple syrup and pineapple in it. Sounds and looks gross, still mostly delicious. The pineapple ended up leaving a bitterness behind after the initial sweetness was gone.

Subjunctive posted:How do you turn mayo into aioli? I don't think you can extract the egg again. Are you thinking of toum? There's egg in aioli. (e: that I knew of) To save a debate I'm only familiar with modern aioli with egg, lemon juice and dijon. I had no idea the old spanish/southern france version is pretty much the same as toum, ie with no egg. Making your own version with egg is sure a hell of a lot easier I found (bad experiences with home made toum in the past and I just remade with egg and called it aioli) Fo3 has a new favorite as of 15:10 on Mar 29, 2017 |

I'm a tomato freak. I grow 12-18 plants each Summer in my veggie garden just to support my habit. This sandwich should actually be toast + cream cheese + tomato + garlic salt. Heaven. As an aside, on of my favorite quick ways to make a snack is slice up a tomato, add some minced garlic on top of each slice, some sea salt, and grated Parmesan. Amazingly good.

There has been no proof of it causing any harm aside from rare feelings of mild discomfort that vary individual to individual and are not linked to any actual damage.

RareAcumen posted:Please drop the gimmicks, is MSG actually safe? As long as you're not doing obviously dangerous things like eating pounds of the stuff? It occurs naturally in tomatoes and cheese, there has been no conclusive link to anything harmful, some folks are naturally sensitive to it and can get headaches. skrapp mettle posted:Stolen from the memes thread weird rear end loss edit

RareAcumen posted:Please drop the gimmicks, is MSG actually safe? As long as you're not doing obviously dangerous things like eating pounds of the stuff? Yeah, it's the sodium salt of an amino acid that's naturally occuring in all living things. Don't eat it by the spoonful.

RareAcumen posted:Please drop the gimmicks, is MSG actually safe? As long as you're not doing obviously dangerous things like eating pounds of the stuff? It's safe. It's a natural part of many things you eat like aged cheeses or soy sauce, the powder is just a concentrated form you can add to other stuff. I wouldn't eat entire bags of it.
