Anyone else run pidgin on mac through homebrew? I installed 10.12.4 today and it seems to have removed Pidgin's ability to resolve DNS , based on what I'm seeing in the debug output.

Seriously? Is that a No because you know for sure, or because you have never heard of something like this happening? I can't believe that there is no way to boot-up to terminal every time and then start X as an option.

There is no way to do that with macOS. If that's important to you, then you'll want to look at installing Linux on your hardware. And I'm not sure what you mean by "X". There is no x-windows.

Anybody else having trouble with audio stuttering on USB headphones after upgrading to 10.12.4? I just confirmed it's behaving the same on two different Macs. Logitech H340 fwiw. It's just BA-BA-BA-BE-BE-BE-BE-BUH-BUH-BUH-BUH. Totally unusable. Non-USB headphones or regular speakers are fine.

Before I try a reformat/restore, anyone else had graphical corruption on 10.12.4? It's not major but sometimes I'll notice small UI glitches that go away after a second or two. 2015 rMBP.

If I have a MBP which is joined to an AD domain, and my account on the MBP is both administrative AND mobile, when I'm forced by policy to change my password is my filevault password going to change as well? Or am I going to have to remember which of my AD passwords I used when I set up the MBP initially. Not sure how this works for AD joined Macs, and since I just got this MBP this is my first go-around on the mobile account ride.

If FileVault passwords work anything like Keychain passwords, then you'll either have to remember your old password or change it again every time you're forced to change your AD password. Pain in the rear end, but I don't know any way around it.

I have two accounts on my laptop. There's a few apps, the simple kind installed by dragging from a DMG to the Apps folder, that will only run on the account that installed them. Those apps appear on the other account, but they look like this: Is there a fix?

I also did a chmod to 777, no fix. Renaming the .app made the X go away, but the program produced a bunch of errors on start until I changed the name back. I used to have this problem with several apps, but all the others seem to have fixed themselves. Maybe it's just some weird buggy quirk of Soundplant? Wouldn't be the first.

I filed a radar, but nobody's acknowledged it yet. I don't know what's going on with Apple's QA lately; really trivial poo poo like how apparently nobody thought to test the iOS "TV" app (which now contains all your offline videos) if you have no network. Want to watch some videos on the plane? Tough, the app just pinwheels forever and then finally shows you the videos except the screens are full of placeholder labels like "EPISODE.LABEL". And then this.

Two things I'm noticing in 10.12.4: 1) The screensaver/lock screen become incredibly slow. It takes at least a minute for the login prompt to come up. 2) I can't use iMessage at all. It won't allow me to authenticate, only says "Error signing in" Happening to anyone else?

My dad can't keep from installing malware-ish extensions in chrome. Is there an easy way I can lock down extensions so he can't install new ones, and so that he can't disable AdBlock? If I could do this, I'd likely never have to do tech support for him again.

Yeah Chrome definitely still has Flash, but I have the option enabled that requires user input to run a plugin, so I pretty much never see it. But I still see the option to run Flash if I want to sometimes. The worst thing is that everyone's got all these auto-playing HTML5 videos now and they're a pain in the dick. And it's mostly on news websites. WHY do you think your video blurb is more important than your copy?
