can't they just write a script that like 10 > loads first thread in archive 20 > goes to first page 30 > goes to first post 40 > clicks "quote" button on this post 50 > gets the returned form content 60 > adds to a database with the quoted userid 70 > moves to next post 80 > goto 40 with 63 million posts and doing that like, say, i dunno, 25 times a second they could be done in less than a month. 25hz is probably super slow estimate too but i don't wanna put tooooo much strain on the web server, we know how that goes

can't "quote" archived posts that are stored on a separate db system that doesn't support data extraction into the live forums db

When I recently moved forum software I had to write my own bespoke forum converter to move everything over and there is nothing hard about it, it's just tedious to figure out all the settings and idiosyncracies and how to convert them to the new database properly. I say this because I was able to port over basically 100% of all settings and I am a dipshit with no formal training in programming the only "hard" part is doing it on 250 million posts without extended downtime Linguica fucked around with this message at 21:14 on Mar 29, 2017 |

I mean yeah, bitfields, but it's a matter of grinding it out. you don't need downtime, it's not like most of those posts are changing. you can lock down editing on anything you're working on, shouldn't take long
