So if escort heavy weapons don't interact with enhancements like fire at will or high yield but they suck up weapon power then... I would want to take a closer look at how this works before jumping to any conclusions about it being good.

It's still -X? weapon power because of the heavy weapon slot and no cruiser weapon efficiency. Also cruisers already get that 8th weapon slot and can put what they like in it, more or less. If there is a zero power option like some kind of heavy torpedo launcher then I can see that being an obvious 'no downsides' choice.

We've seen that they want power to be A Thing.(possibly 'again'.) They, I imagine, really want you to be thinking about taking those +power consoles in your Engineering slots as opposed to other things, the shield with Power Conduit Link, and so on. They want the Engineering Super Moves for space to feel like Super Moves. They are hampered by some things that have come before. And they've changed scaling such that you want higher power in any case. In the end, one can say they want: "I Want to gear for Power Levels' to be a thing. From there, all else follows.

The T6 ones are all largely interchangeable unless you're after a specific build in which case you know which one you want. Pilot escorts are probably "best" overall though. Specifically the pilot escorts that came out when that whole skill tree launched.

I wish my temporal raider was that fancy. Looks like a Batman logo, though, so that's something. Edit: you know what? I'm using a quantum mine launcher with it because using the BOff skill to dump a dozen mines in a star pattern behind my ship is just funny. Like "holy poo poo, that's a lot of mines." I also still have one of the middle versions of the Hargh'peng Torpedo Launcher on it. Not the consumable one and not the most recent one that has slightly lower stats. The middle one where you got to murder a Doomsday Machine with it in a mission but still keep it afterwards. Also, it has a Battle Cloak. An (ostensibly) Fed ship with a Battle Cloak is nice. It would have gone a long way to making them desirable again because the maneuvers just make them fun to play. But then they wouldn't be able to sell those ugly rear end pilot escorts (I'm fairness the KDF ones look baller and the Romneys are okay, but the Fed ones are hideous)

Its got no endgame beyond space barbie, now that queues are dead and we've driven out about 90% of the worst pubbies. The missions are pretty fun single player stuff, tho, and the game is easy as poo poo provided you follow equipment advice from the goons who know how the game works (short version: all one damage type, and pick exclusively either beams or cannons)
