Bees are great and we should do everything to get more of the lil rascals. Apparently a huge value of beekeeping is using them as pollinators. In some cases it earns far more than the honey they produce.

Bees are cool and all but a serious bee attack is no joking matter. As a young man growing up me, and friends would like to just wonder into the woods and adventure and poo poo. Well one day my buddy Paul stepped on an underground yellow jacket nest. I ran my rear end off so fast back to his parents house. Paul was not as lucky and got stung the gently caress up all over his body. Anyways, that's my attacked by bees story.

There used to be a killer bee scare here but as far as anyone can tell they've interbred enough with the local bees that they're just moderately annoyed bees at best and will no longer chase you for a mile

As a dumb teenager, I hit a tree stump with an old lawnmower and whoops, it had a wasp hive in it. It was an older lawnmower with no dead man's control. I took off running and got stung a bunch, got inside, locked down the room I was in and murdered all the wasps that got inside, then went and put on a bunch of my skiing gear and old halloween costume pieces and large rubber bands to cover my entire body, went and got a hose and proceeded to unleash hell on the swarm to get to the lawnmower and turn it off.

Crushing certain kinds of wasps unleashes a swarm chemical, I believe, but I could be wrong on that.

I have five cats. Had six, but one died recently. Between me and my wife, I'm the crazy cat lady by a significant margin. We also feed random stray cats and do TNR with our local cat charity when we feel like making an effort. We're currently resuscitating a half-dead cat in our bathroom, who today tested positive for FIV, so yay, AIDS cat. He has a horrible wound above and around his balls that we need to clean and put ointment on daily. He is such a softy he doesn't even try to bite us while we're doing it, he just whines a little and jerks when it hurts. He is skin and bones and has been starving probably for a long time but he just wants to be pet and sit in your lap more than anything else including food. We kept bees for a couple of years. Bees are great. Honey is great. We stopped keeping bees after we both got infections from bee stings. Cellulitius is not fun and I'm allergic to three different antibiotics now. Some cats are not good pets and some are very good pets. You can't tell which kind a kitten will wind up being so evne though they're adorable you should just adopt an adult cat and ignore the kittens. Some idiots will adopt the kittens, you get a cat you already know is a good cat that likes you and isn't evil. I am the top poster in the house buying thread, ama about houses and buying them. Wasps and hornets will actually raid honey bee hives so feel free to kill them. You can bait a wasp trap with bologna and that tells you right up front how wrong wasps are. Hot rotting bolgna hanging in the sun draws wasps. Ugh. Plant bee friendly plants around your house. Especially ones that attract native bees, many of which are endangered. Lawns suck, get native plants. What are the odds the Texans just hold their breaths and take Kaep? I mean he might be too edgy for Texas to deal with, but who else are they gonna use at QB? I made papadams on sunday night. I had no idea how easy it is! You just buy the papads at an indian grocery and then you heat up some oil and drop in a little fragment until it does the puff up thing and that's when the oil is hot enough. Then drop in a papad, flip it after like five seconds, and take it out after ten. Bam, it's done. Some tamarind chutney, some mint chutny, and you're in heaven. Why didn't anyone tell me I could have crispy, delicious papadams with like five minutes of effort?
