You've spent some time in the business then! I told someone to fire me once and they said "Okay, go punch one of the planes then" Apparently they'll dent (or maybe tear?) If you apply that sort of strong force to them.

IIRC the driver was a catering company employee who wasn't licensed to drive around the airport. In the full video they immediately swap seats with their supervisor who was riding in the passenger seat.

flosofl posted:I think the complaint is that it's beeping with an entirely different tone when stationary. All the time. TTerrible posted:Wait your original post says it is constantly moving. If it's beeping while its completely stationary and noone is on it then its broken as hell. If it's moving *even slightly* then it should be beeping. Some Genie electric lifts do this thing where if you leave them turned on in the stowed position then after 5 minutes or so they start beeping really loving loudly until someone shuts them off. We work on them all the time and someone still does it about once a week. I could definitely see them beeping constantly while an operator who uses them once in a blue moon goes for lunch. FalloutGod posted:Apparently there are OSHA regulations that require hearing protection in places where the beeping is above a certain decibel level. So not only are beeps a lovely way to convey what you should be paying attention too you might have to wear hearing protection to stop going deaf from them. It's a self-fulfilling regulation. OSHA requires hearing protection over certain decibels, and then they turn around and require manufacturers to install beepers that can be heard over construction noise while wearing hearing protection. Naturally then the beepers have to be like 90+db, so then you're back to needing hearing protection while they're in operation. Gumbel2Gumbel posted:You've spent some time in the business then! I told someone to fire me once and they said "Okay, go punch one of the planes then" Airplane bodies are made of the absolute thinnest possible aluminum that can hold up to the stresses of flying, can't be repaired or reshaped (because they're so thin and need to be perfectly smooth), and are incredibly expensive. You could do tens of thousands of dollars of damage to an airplane with just a hammer. Never mind possibly damaging the structure by ramming it with a truck.

He must have migrated to Australia and become my escort driver: I've posted the story before in this thread I think. The excavator in the background saw the whole thing and demanded a carton of beer or rum to recover the vehicle and not report it. The vehicle number on the side did it for me: "HERO19"

They had a bar but tried to ban people bringing in their own supplies. Granted they did that for a reason to maybe curtail those problem drinkers who would sit in their rooms drinking alone by providing only one place to drink and no takeaways. The prices were actually better than buying your own and smuggling in. It was a big camp and took me and my offsider a few weeks to actually realise the camp was a better deal, we smuggled all sorts of booze in our gear bags being used to every other camp grossly overcharging.
