they first got on peoples' radars when they sent promotional emails to everyone whose email address was part of a data breach on plex's forums in 2015. they're trying to cover this up by pretending to be staffed by plex engineers, but it's a paper-thin excuse. motherboard wrote a p funny write-up, reporter found a phone number through a paypal invoice, called it, and the dude called him a "poo poo-disturber" for writing the piece

I laughed out loud because that was a baseless accusation. He then called me a "nerd in front of a computer," a charge I readily agreed with.
