A good chapter and I think they deserved an unambiguous victory at this point. And i'm glad Emma saved her pal. On the other hand, I think it's lame that all of this is apparently Norman's plan. I'm cool with him leaving something behind or having some secret plan to be helpful even in death. But it'll be a shame if the end result of that fantastic glare Emma gave 2 chapters ago is just that she's following a plan that Norman made 2 whole months ago, with her not having come up with anything.

nothing has changed in those two months.

EDIT: Nah it was just in the back of the ear. They didn't really have time to take it out with a knife so I guess cutting the whole ear off really was the best move.

Holy lol the apparent big plan and motivation of the adult party in U19 is :psyduck: as gently caress.

The ranking thing is in fact, a eugenics plan. The ranking stuff is presented as a form of weird communism/socialism where if you have a low ranking you're not going to have an overly luxurious lifestyle but you're still provided for because the government's use of the system lets them ensure 100% employment and a safety net.

What it really was meant to do is isolate "high ranking" people and "low ranking" people to their peer groups- so the high rankers can produce kids with better genetics. The adults originally did this by analyzing academic performance but they felt it missed people with potential that wasn't readily apparent so they developed this gene-analysis system.

Their goal? Take over the rest of the world and avenge Japan's loss in WWII and being forced to participate in globalism.

The latest potato-quality translated chapter ends with the MC's dumb but apparently genetically gifted love-interest being brought to an assembly and basically being told along with all of the other kids to gently caress the most compatible member of the opposite sex that has been picked out for them.

No, for real. :psypop:

Wow, he's totally lunatic

Also they defeat the hosed up homeroom teacher guy by accusing him of putting one of the male students in bondage and raping him.

The homeroom teacher dude gets arrested for this. What he was really doing was beating the student for disobeying him and trying to permanently wreck his arm because he was a baseball player. This apparently was okay legally. The BSDM Rape thankfully was not.

I mean this technically is the logical endgame of most hyper nationalistic societies.

Blond Hair blue eyes etc etc.

It's probably not so granulated to the State literally dictating your partner but the pool of "pure, high class" is still gonna be fairly small.

So I just found this adorable slice of life manga called We Can't Study. The basic summary of it is a guy that's shooting for a scholarship needs to tutor two (female) students. One is a genius at math and science, while the other is a genius at humanities. However, they're terrible in the other's specialty. The guy needs to bring them up to par so that they can enter the field of study that they chose. Naturally, there's romcom in this whole thing, but it takes a backseat to how terrible and adorable these girls are when trying to study something outside of their strengths.

I think it was talked about in the romance thread.

I like it too. The previous work by this author was that Nisekoi spinoff, but this is looking like ten times the manga Nisekoi was.

To be honest it feels a little awkward to me for reasons I can't fully articulate, but I do have to give it credit for the fact that its set-up makes me honestly unsure who he'll end up with at the end (while it's usually super obvious and the main love interest is introduced first). If I had to guess I'd say black hair literature girl.

Shounen romcom love interests, assuming they have competitors, must have long and/or dark hair, and since math girl qualifies neither of these conditions she has lost from the very beginning. Dark skin also loses since I'm pretty sure the dark skin girl has never won in a shounen romcom.

edit: I like the part where math girl is over and there's a blackout and the MC says "Um, Ogata...? Are you perhaps scared of the D?"

Seems like the love interests all have nicknames with a fairy tale theme.

Science girl with glasses - "Thumbelina"
Literature girl with long hair - "Sleeping Beauty"
Swimming girl with tanned skin - "Little Mermaid"

That leaves slots for "Cinderella", "Rapunzel", "Snow White", "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Beauty" (of Beauty and the Beast).

If U19 survives the initial cull (a prospect that thankfully looks unlikely due to it ranking dead last the last two weeks.) it will be a pus filled cyst on the arse of WSJ for years to come.

Dr Stone will be the series too pure to survive WSJ.

Dr. Stone is pretty funny but I would've preferred watching him literally reinvent the wheel onward to this setup where the super strong "one with nature" dude is going to be the representative of luddite nature worshipers and likely de-petrify like-minded people so he can have the right to indiscriminately murder people and die wretchedly between 30-40 the first time he gets a particularly bad infection from anything.

But really though even if you had the means to survive on your own- if you were out-of-time essentially for 3000 years you'd probably die in a week from the plethora of bacteria/virii that your immune system will likely not be able to easily resist.
