At first I thought it was going to be a whale breaking thru the ice, but instead it was just a bear.

I don't know if its exactly the same exhibition, but there were a few of these that came through the local art gallery a few years ago. They would shut you in and start a timer for 45s because apparently if they left it longer than that some people would start to freak out.

If that was a real hammer it'd have gone straight through his skull at that speed, I'm pretty sure the guy will be fine post a few stitches and maybe a concussion.

You would be surprised how good a hit the skull can take without collapsing, even if the brain can't take it. The dude's arms indicate brain damage quite obviously. Look it up.

There's a longer video of that poor face-hammered bastard. The guy gets up looking extremely dazed, and maybe his skull is fractured and his brain swelled up later, but he literally walked that off in the immediate aftermath.

This guy got up an walked off as well (Matt Shoemaker - 105mph off the bat, straight into his head). A few hours later, the bleeding in his brain almost killed him, and they had to do emergency brain surgery. (Edit: he's fine now - He wrote about it, and the story is both awesome, and heartbreaking. blarzgh has a new favorite as of 15:00 on Apr 6, 2017 |

IUG posted:That was my #1 fear when I played little league baseball. I caught a line drive to the eye socket in little league. Swelled shut for almost a week and had a black eye for what felt like basically all summer, but that can't be right. The rest of the season was filled with "don't keep your eye on the ball that hard Solice" jokes from my coach. It also let the winning run score and I didn't get to go for hot dogs after the game because I had to go to the doctor. Just not a good day for 12 year old Solice.
