E: Ha!

Columbus Dispatch posted:

“We’ve got a real skilled, excellent, strong-skating center ice man who has made the adjustment from amateur to pro quite well,” Jets coach Paul Maurice said.

But with a glint in his eye, Maurice acknowledged that the timing of Roslovic’s recall was more than coincidental. Maurice and his family lived in central Ohio from 2011 to ’13 while he coached in Russia and waited for the next NHL opportunity.

That's awesome

If the Caps can't win it all this year I don't know what to say. Letang is gone, Werenski is gone(?), the rest of the East is whatever, and nobody in the West is on their level except Chicago.

What's interesting about this point is that the Caps broke Werenski. He's "day-to-day with an upper-body injury" because apparently nobody seems to want to be specific with injuries anymore.

The hope is that Oliver "STRO, THE MAESTRO OF HOCKEY...OOH, LA LA" Bjorkstrand coming back might spark some offense.

I can't speak for most fans, some of whom are probably just excited their team isn't a flaming trash fire for once in their/our team's miserable existence, but I'm tempering my excitement because there's this nagging fear in the back of my mind that this whole thing is liable to go to poo poo next season. :ohdear:

Toronto only has like a 2.3% chance to miss the playoffs at this point.

Hmm... That's about as unlikely as a 3 goal 3rd period comeback...

Given the schedules of Toronto, Tampa, and the Islanders, it's not inconceivable that they might miss. If they lose to Tampa tonight they're in trouble, since their last two games are against the Pens and Blue Jackets, and meanwhile Tampa's last two are against Montreal and Buffalo. (Also the Islanders last three are agains Carolina, New Jersey and Ottawa).

Roslovic, Kuraly, and the Sherwood brothers (I think Kole is the one who earned an ELC out of last summer's development camp with the CBJ and just went to Cleveland like last week) are all Columbus-born kids in/with a good chance to head to the NHL. Connor Murphy (Coyotes) also grew up in Columbus while his dad was an assistant under Hitchcock.

Maurice/the Jets wanted to get Roslovic in a game at some point before the end of the season and figured Columbus was the place to do it given what he saw about hockey in the area while living there.

e- There are like 10 Tweets in all on Porty's feed, but here are quotes from Maurice:

Toronto is in for sure, and the Habs are in cruise mode. They've got absolutely nothing to win for right now and can take the foot off the throttle for a few games. Hey, maybe keep Lindgren around and give him a few more games of NHL hockey.

I don't see the magical confluence of:
1) Toronto losing all 3 remaining games
2) Bolts/Isles winning all 3 of their remaining games

It could happen. Mathematically, it is a possibility, but I wouldn't be putting money on it.

It really hinges on the Toronto - Tampa game tonight. If Toronto loses they have two very tough games (Pens, CBJ) to finish the season, while Tampa has two relatively easy games (Habs, which as you mention are cruising, and Buffalo).
