I'm still in. I was supposed to be going to the area soon but got pulled off on Tuesday because I've got two recent tours and they wanted let a new CPT get his feet wet. I wonder if that will last. E: ^ the Russians are already saying no troops have died despite evidence otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out Assad as long as we promise they keep a port and some influence.

Earlier today, I saw tweets reportedly quoting the Russian government as saying that they weren't married to Assad as the ruler of Syria. I have to wonder if there hasn't been some serious backchannel chatter with Putin that would allow Trump to launch strikes against Syrian military assets or a decapitation strike against Assad, and therefore allow for a "national salvation" figure amenable to Russia and the Trump administration to take the helm for peace talks with certain elements of the opposition. That way, Russia has its interests safeguarded by having a new, less damaged puppet installed and Trump gets a sorely needed victory, unlike that pussy Obama who only managed to kill UBL under the noses of a nuclear power. That, or Trump at al have no idea what they're doing and we're about to enter into WWIII overnight. Regardless, I live in DC so I probably won't even wake up for the blinding flash of SS-18 love, so I'm gonna pop open a 5th of Knob Creek because why not.
