I do like Press Turn more even though Persona's combat system is pretty similar. Baton Pass is an awesome new addition, though.

HolePisser1982 posted:some noob thoughts since this game's been on my mind a lot: Persona is always more inviting just by the nature of how it's built from the ground up, rather than just being a pure Hardcore rpg experience, it has that and a million other things to do when you get tired of clenching your rear end. P4 has always been my recommendation for anyone new to the series, since it was my own gateway game, but it's clear that anyone interested today should just jump into P5. I'm also a rare gamer that played P3 after 4 and thought it was just fine. The old games will always be there if you like what you see. My first step into SMT mainline games was Nocturne and it was fantastic.. easily one of my favorite games of all time.. I remember thinking "Oh this is just more of the same stuff with less fluff surrounding it -- I got this", and then got blown up immediately by Matador (classic noob-check boss). Either way, I'm really glad Persona has gotten so mainstream. The more people that play these games the more they will make, and that is good.

Yeah I went back to P3 as well and after getting used to the partner AI in like 2 hours it was still an awesome game with a totally different vibe

The time between persona 1 and 3 is basically the same as between 3 and 5 and realizing that made me appreciate 3 more. They really nailed the basics of what would be their formula going forward and persona 3 today still feels relatively modern whereas in 2006 persona 1 was already like the drat Stone Age. I miss how between 1 and 2 there was some crossover like meeting the team from 1 and even recruiting one in 2. I want to recruit some 40 year old persona havers form the original games.

Well in terms of crossovers I have a poster of Rise hanging in my attic. So there's a chance they'll do something with Inaba, like how you visited Gekkoukan in P4.

I played persona 1 when I was like 12 and didn't have a memory card and had to rent it, and loved it and didn't know wtf it was, just that it said rpg on the back like all my favorite SNES games I wouldn't run into smt again until P3 came out and I was like oh poo poo I remember this! that led into DDS and eventually SMT games proper strange journey is still my fav, but persona 3+ are just all around fun games it's hard to say they're not better. they're just all around experiences in a very unique way
