I watched Hinako a few minutes at a time while doing other things. It was very nice I don't know why it is getting called out. Having a plot is an original concept so I'm curious to see where it goes. Scarecrow is such a good gag too.

A lot of the things I thought didn't work for the movie were the very things he felt it was lacking in, so he feels that people are attributing things to his work that were never there. For the devil's advocate argument, his statements are perfectly setup for a "death of the author" argument, but I personally feel like all of those arguments would have to intentionally ignore the movie's flaws, which is exactly his issue. Because if Your Name because his magnum opus, then how is he supposed to follow it? Make the same mistakes that won him praise, or create the best work that he can and risk losing his lofty status? But I do think that he should just try to ignore the hype and just do what he does. Being reactionary is never a good thing.

I just started watching the first season of Saekano after months of hearing goons talk about it and it is WAY better than I thought it would be. I love all of it so far. Kato's dry as the Sahara humor is the best.

So, speaking as somebody who typically goes 'Meh' and stops watching most anime half way through the first episode, the new series of Bahamut has me loving hooked. The animation is ridiculous, the characters fun and atypical. Holy poo poo, dragon! I want to binge watch the whole thing right now.

Not sure if that would make the mechanism of the world more confusing but a quicker pace is fine. Maybe a little is lost without full access to the MCs irreverent thoughts. Also, this being animation there's a more constant reminder that yes, this is a furry guy. Looks like furry anime is going beyond Mamoru Hosoda's works now.
