I, personally, like PPG and would totally live under a Kurdish communist state. I don't understand why communism needs to get into jacking privileges, though.

Is that just a YPG and/or party rule?

That's what compromises on self-determination meant; they're going to have to cede some degree of authority to at least one of the four countries (and other factions in Kurdistan) and it's possible they'll be able to maintain some degree of autonomy and self-governance if only because whatever provisional governments that flop out of this won't have the resources to crack down on and police PPG's former masturbatoria

It is possible, it is also possible that monkeys may fly out of my rear end. What conflict is it that you are expecting to come out of with their heads above water? The borders of Iraq and Syria for the moment may as well have been totally eradicated. Which regime which grant them autonomy? Assad, or whatever horrific Islamist government that replaces him? Will an Iraqi government ruled by Shia be willing to be so favorable once ISIS and sectarian violence in their country are somewhat quelled?

I think an environment in which a Kurdish state maintains an acceptable level of autonomy necessitates destabilization in the countries they inhabit. This is a poor plan of governance.

The West had their chance with the pan-Arab movement post WW1. Barring that, I'm not sure what hope we have with any kind of peace barring a total abandonment of post 1920 mandate borders.

I'm not saying they'll like it, but an authoritarian regime or puppet state or whatever won't have the resources to gently caress with a pretty successful military force in incredibly hostile terrain.the ussr was undone by the taliban, hussein didn't have the resources to govern the Kurds after desert storm, the current Iraqi state has supported their autonomy for over a decade and defended them even against US corporate interests. Kurds have survived for over a thousand years despite very focused efforts to weaken subjugate and eradicate them in between long long periods of hands-off rule by nations more relatively powerful than the ones we have now and their most successful autonomous periods have actually followed successful defense against massive upheaval surrounding them.

I'm glad PPG didn't die in Syria but anyone who sees him as anything other than an alienated millennial who rebelled in the most extreme way he could possibly find is really stretching. The affection for him is really strange.
The guy is a massive weirdo who has seemingly little to offer except hot takes on twitter and I guess the experience being a soldier way behind the front lines in a doomed war, fighting for a kind of socialism we would all find totally repellent.

He was also protected by the YPG and kept far away from any actual conflict or combat. They let him hold guns and took pictures of him for PR.

Yeah like they clearly jokingly asked if that permission was fungible and then had to explain to Brandon what that word means because he's their dumbest officially released interview.
