Have you seen Jense setting the lap record in the shiny silver McLaren? Pretty drat cool, I think they put in Lowndes in the McLaren after.

It was 'untimed' and therefore Jensen's time is 'unofficial' but it's still the fastest anything has been around that track.

Honestly I do hope we get to see more F1 guys do it someday. I guess Vettel was open to doing it one day (odd considering his idol Schumi said "lol NOPE! That's some scary poo poo!"). Yeah, the fastest qualifying lap at Monza ever was ~161 mph average speed.

Last year's fastest qualifying lap at Indy 500 was just a hair short of 231 mph.

nono. I know you're the police or whatever, but if you really want to set me off just keep going this way.

Average speed doesn't mean poo poo when the cars literally don't brake and can only turn in one direction.

What is scary about it is it's retarded, and that's it. Whats scary about it is a track specifically designed so a crash results in the cars coming back ONTO the track, where everyone is constantly lapping at 300kph because lol brakes and corners. What is scary about it is putting 30+ cars onto a track a fraction of the size of an F1 track. What is scary about it is Zinardi lost his legs because of the idiocy I just detailed. What is scary about it learnt today is rookies may have just as much pace because of the series racing but without the experience. All going constantly at 300kph. With no run offs.

It's got nothing to do with being tough or something. Mansell did it because nobody else would give him the drive he wanted, and Frank is a stingy oval office that turned around to his newly crowned WDC and told him to stick his pay rise up his rear end.

dear Americans, I love you and this forum. But holy poo poo oval racing is the loving devil and the sooner you all realize it the sooner you can come and be awesome in F1.

I love road courses as much as the next guy (my favorite course is Road America, for what it's worth), but something about the 500 is awesome.

Also regarding crashes on oval tracks: they've put in new barriers on all of them, especially in the turns, that A. reduces injury and car damage by absorbing the energy, and B. prevents the car from going out into the middle of traffic. It's also been used at Watkins Glen and Circuit de la Sarthe.

Regarding everything else? That's your opinion on racing, and you're more than welcome to express it. I won't hand out punishments for that ever.

Apart from the 27 cautions (someone farted, we better throw a caution).
Do they have competition yellows in Indycar as well?
The road courses are moderately interesting and I will occasionally watch it, if I happen to turn the TV on, but ovals are just plain boring.
Yeah, I'm vaguely aware of the skill set required, but it's still boring.

your wheel to wheel constant passing racing entirely visible from almost any point in the grandstands is dumb. If you were smarter, you would appreciate being able to see one turn of a parade of cars ordered by the amount spent by it's owner

No competition yellows in Indy, thank gods.

There's one thing in Indy that I really wish F1 (and WEC) would implement:

The seven-segment display on the airbox. It allows for an easy way to tell what position a car is in (also used for pit stop timing and Push to Pass usage on road courses).

Also, fittingly enough, that's Honda's car right there at Indy, so if you want a good idea what 'Nando's car will look like in body shape, there you go.

One thing other series should definitely adopt from F1 is the virtual safety car. Bonus points if they make a gimmick of it by literally projecting a 'virtual' car on the track.
