Caught out said HR lady lying, on email about things that were said during the meeting. Said one thing to me, another thing to the bosses I queried it with. I've asked them about it. No response. I've sent them another email about a meeting room cable, instant reply. I know you're ignoring me now you fucks. I'm really angry today E: gently caress it, walked to his desk, told him i need a meeting now. Told him she's lying to his face. Told him I can't prove it because the person auditing the meeting has to send her notes to the HR person so she can review them (read: edit them) before sending them out to me. Told him that was also stupid. gently caress lovely HR people man, the worst ones are so goddamn power hungry. dogstile fucked around with this message at 11:44 on Apr 13, 2017 |

This seems hosed up to me, is it considered normal or are they expecting too much? How hard can it be? I'm Microsoft CertifiedTM in Skype(R)

Application specialist: I can't get this tomcat server to load. What did you do? Me: I didn't do anything, I delivered the server to you a week ago with a working tomcat, what did you do? AppSpec: nothing, I had to restart it and now it won't load, you need to fix this Me: So a week ago, you told me you needed a new tomcat to work on this week, all week you've done nothing, but today you decided to reload the tomcat? AppSpec: No I haven't done "nothing" but I haven't changed anything that would make the tomcat not start. Me: So you have done something, show me exactly what file you edited. AppSpec: I haven't edited any files Me: what what did you do all week? AppSpec: worked on the tomcat and webapp Me: What files did you change? AppSpec: no files, I didn't do anything. Me: Me: * find -mtime -5 you edited server.xml, that's the main tomcat config. What did you change? AppSpec: nothing Me: well I have the file in SVN looks like you added these directories. AppSpec: I deleted those directories since the plugins in them aren't needed any more Me: so you did do something, you modified this file and deleted directories AppSpec: no, I told you I didn't do anything to the tomcat. Me: excuse me while I jump out this window.

There are still people running critical services on Server 2003, why do you assume everyone is rushing to get on Office 365? There are always people afraid of change who will do whatever they can to keep their old garbage running instead of upgrading.

And 90% of our inquiries right now are O365 migrations of all shapes and sizes? Migrating is pretty easy and doesn't cost a lot. Saves most people money over time. It's an easy sell and winds up working much better than on-prem in virtually all cases.

the real reason to go with o365 to me is the spam filtering and stuff. its just worth it not to have to worry about it or deal with a third party spam blocking service. also it supports easy encryption for the users which is pretty nice.

Opening a ticket means there's a paper trail so 9 months down the road when their change backfires and they get all "what did you do to our website?? 8 characters long and can't start with a number here, for our ticketing system, which runs on z/OS. Our source control has a similar restriction (no mainframe though) so to make it more secure, it's behind a special firewall that intercepts all requests unless you telnet in and authenticate with your SSO credentials every 13 hours or so.

Why yes, I would love to move from Colorado to Des Moines for a 6 month field technician contract for your company, who charges 1200 per month for the only decent health insurance plan. I'm screwing with this guy. It's one thing if you contact me for a lovely role locally, but I guarantee this guy is just spamming everybody with field service technician on their resume.

Inspector_666 posted:Yuuuup, I had it in the back of my mind but made the foolish, idiot mistake of assuming if our building was included somebody would tell us in a timely fashion. I know how you feel! In downtown LA, every building above a certain height has to have this fire marshal testing once per year, and the building tests their emergency power at the same time. Long story short, we have people in five different locations downtown that all do this at different random times throughout the year. All the servers and poo poo have to be shut down by the time they begin the testing, so this means I usually go in there on a Saturday and shut down, come back on Sunday and power up. Sometimes they do the testing on Friday night, but it's always over a weekend. Every single time it comes to me having to tell people who were planning on being in the office working late over the weekend, or remoting in from Citrix, "Just shut down your machine by XX PM, if you don't you'll be cut off from all network resources, your phone won't work, and you won't have internet. This is not optional and the building managment and LA Fire Marshal don't care about your deadline" (everyone is working on a deadline 365 days a year as best as I can tell) Best part is when one of these companies says at like 8 AM Friday that one of the buildings is having their annual power testing that night, or the next day. Always seems to happen when I have an out-of-town trip or something like that planned.

Mine was a direct supervisor who decided that, since my horrible allergic congestion hadn't stopped me from coming in on Friday, that meant the straight-up lung infection it'd developed into over the weekend was something I could just work with on Monday. When I got over to both HR and the overall department supervisor (at about five-steps-and-stop-to-wheeze speed), it was decided above her head that yeah, I really could call out sick. (Direct from work to the doc, who didn't even take a sputum sample, just five seconds on the stethoscope and GO GET ANTIBIOTICS NOW and he was already calling the pharmacy himself. (She was also the one that got pissy when I had to leave early for what turned out to be kidney stones, sorry I couldn't call in from the ER where I was told my bladder was full of gravel. )

Our CMS has an issue with a webcache where the cache doesn't check for new content, so our dev team wrote a script that rotates through the cache and invalidates them every few minutes while they review the system and figure out the problem.
