Not gonna lie, one of the best things I ever saw was a drill sergeant come out of loving nowhere to flying-tackle some dumbass who turned with his whole body on the range, causing his M16 to stop pointing downrange. It was magical.

Lol if your drill sergeant didnt get busted for throwing literal pizza parties for the females while on duty

My drill sergeant got like hulk angry mad after our PT test and rocketed this privates canteen a good 40 feet striking the pull-up bar beam and breaking off the cap. I remember being impressed with his accuracy, assuming that he was aiming for said target.

You're either a goddamn unicorn or someone is running interference and when they're gone for one reason or another the shitshow will be spectacular. It can be as simple as the one dude who serves as the unit conscience the dude who takes the drunks home and or stops fights going on leave or taking a 3 day on a fed holiday to go to the beach.

i guarantee you once you get back that at least 1/3 of your soldiers will be doing one of the following:
There's about a ten percent chance that I pulled out of my rear end that one of them will have raped a girl. Or guy.

Good thing we're scheduled with more YTC rotations in a year than most LT's get in 3 years I guess...... I honestly often feel like I have no idea what the gently caress I'm doing when we're in garrison because I've spent so little time actually doing garrison stuff. My cohort of PL's already have more field time with our PLTs than any of the "senior" LT's ever did with theirs.

in 12 years I did 1 NTC rotations and 0 JRTC rotations (other than the entired of my time at polk but nothing proper) and literally YTC rotations are just made up poo poo for people at Tacoma because lol. like YTC is just the field man, your bases field is a long ways away. its just the regular field, an ftx with some added bullshit driving

Honestly you can get some pretty fantastic deals with a Star Card if you time it right. Over Christmas I bought a new 15" MBP with mine from the Navy Exchange online; since it was my first purchase with the account I got 15% off, plus the NEX had a 5% off coupon and 24 months no interest. On top of that I got $80 of exchange gift cards via their rewards programs. So basically I saved $500+ on a brand new laptop and got 2 years of no interest.
