That honestly still looks like a ground burst, both from where the object seems to be impacting/where the explosion is centered. But on the other hand, the way the pressure wave goes outward before everything appears to get sucked back to the center as the mushroom cloud develops...and the way that the location apparently is congruent with what the official announcement said. Meh, kinda expected something more spectacular.

sharknado slashfic posted:I feel like anyone Sam Jackson is gonna appeal to weren't Republican voters in Georgia anyway. Not the name of the game. It's a clusterfuck jungle special election primary. Turnout, turnout, turnout. Ossoff can crack 50% and win the seat outright if democrats turn out and Republicans don't on Tuesday, and that's been the trend so far. If he doesn't crack 50%, it goes to a true special election, Republican versus Democrat, and it's unlikely you crack 50% if that happens. That's why Kansas was close, the Democrats turned out and Republicans didn't. Jackson's ad is a WAKE THE gently caress UP message to the Democrats for turnout purposes.

Maybe I'm misreading it, but he's framing it like the NSA found exploits within Windows systems, use/used said exploits for their own means, then someone leaked said exploits. I can't really fault the NSA for using existing exploits. It's just a dumb double standard to put on the NSA. Tell MS discreetly about exploits in hopes that they don't patch systems that you're currently exploiting, and big business is being co-opted by the NSA. Say nothing and keep exploits in house (which they failed at), and said exploits are now your fault. Not the developers.

The normal way is to diclose the exploits to the developer privately and give a timeline for publicly disclosing it some time later (after it's been patched out). When they sit on that info so they can use it themselves they are the bad guys.

Like I understand that white hat security analysts do this, but it literally makes no sense for an organization like the NSA to do it unless they believe that the extant exploits they're aware of makes their own assets more susceptible to exploitation. also lol at the idea of the NSA being anything other than "the bad buys" when it comes to exploiting computer systems and codes to gain intelligence.

The NSA promotes national security by breaking into computer systems. Kind of like how the CIA promoted natonal security by arming and training mujahadeen freedom fighters and the FBI promoted national security by stopping terrorists.

Their job is to discover and utilize vulnerabilities until the civilian infosec industry discovers and patches with their own methods. Your argument is analogous to telling undercover cops they need to inform everyone they interact with that they are an undercover cop. In both cases disclosure is 100% counterproductive. facialimpediment posted:yo can you get us better satellite pictures of Donnie golfing because this poo poo is getting ridiculous How are paparazzi allowed to get that close with a camera?
