This feels like the kind of year where Nashville can break into that second tier of NHL franchises that occasionally gets national attention and really deserves more.

With a couple of notable exceptions, the Caps have looked very tentative in the offensive zone overall, passing up a lot of opportunities to shoot with clear shooting lanes and instead passing behind, usually leading to a clean breakout for the Leafs. Playoff nerves? They didn't seem nearly as shy about shooting the puck during the regular season. Also someone apparently put a hex on John Carlson because that sequence that led to the OT winner was pretty inexplicable.

But he sucks People are talking Dermott or Holl but I don't know how bad the Leafs want to throw some of these guys into their first ever game. Valiev's probably in the ring too.

Rinne sure picked a hell of a time to go back to being a top 5 goalie. Jerk. Also the Preds are doing a great job of showing me just how much older/slower Chicago's D has become since 2009.

The Flames were done in by a lucky deflection tonight, however they haven't looked good against the Ducks so far at all. Maybe it changes once they get home, especially since they're a young team, but eventually they need to win in Anaheim. Stinks since they liked so good going into the postseason.

If Flames are good at home, they only need one win in Anaheim. Totally doable. They looked pretty good tonight and lost because of pretty much the unluckiest play I've seen in hockey in a while

The Capitals are a joke and even if they do win this series they won't win the one that follows it. I'm so sick and tired of this same old garbage year in and year out from this team whenever they're in the playoffs. It makes the whole season seem boring and dumb when you know they're gonna fail anyway once the playoffs come in.

iospace posted:Before yesterday: leafs fans; "we're finished!" Yeah but the Caps do this crap all the time. Look great in the season then the playoffs come and they're several notches worse and clearly not a top team. It's just ridiculous and you'd think they'd be able to figure this out after so many god drat years. The Leafs don't do this every single year they're just usually not in the playoffs at all but now they'll have a star player to build around so they'll be around more. Their situation is different. And just you watch they'll have a cup in short order while the caps are in it 200 times and only past the second round twice in their whole history.

Look at the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks. They had long periods with no cup but they came back and then won a bunch of them putting a great team together. Toronto is another long drought team and they're gonna do the same thing. Even the Rangers won a single cup breaking "The Curse" back in 1994. Why can't the Capitals do this? Why can't we have that one playoffs we actually play real well with a great team and everyone's like "Yep, the caps were just the best this year". Even the year we won it we got lucky cause all the other top seeds got upset and then Detroit took us apart in the finals. Why can't we have that one good year? Just one is all we need.

It might be easier and more satisfying to turn your sour feelings into something creative? Like maybe draw a ravens logo riding a caps logo and have a word ballon coming out that says "we are a farts." Happy playoffs!
