Edit: loving hell, that lovely movie starred a young James Best who is probably most famous for his role as Sheriff Rosco. P. Coltrane in the classic Dukes of Hazzard TV series. He actually returned to the franchise 53 years later and reprised his role in the 2012 SyFy TV movie Return of the Killer Shrews.

the main idea for the alien in alien 3 was for the face hugger to attack an ox the prisoners had as livestock but the ox wouldnt cooperate at all during filming and they were so behind schedule and over budget that the execs decided to switch to using a dog

it was switched back to the ox for the massively improved assembly cut
