The framing device leads to a real cool moment but I think all of the Sae's "YOU MUST HAVE HAD SOMEONE CAPABLE OF PUNTING YOU INTO THE VELVET ROOM! IT'S THE ONLY WAY! WHO WERE THEY? TELL ME!" monologues are super bad. They should have had Sae have an interjection every time you started a book, dvd, or other side activity. Also question: Do you still get Sae's monologues if you wait to begin a S.Link after the Framing device?

Exmond posted:Could you explain why one of the Tower persona is a penis riding a chariot? The demon Mara might be easier to equate with the Devil because it's a symbol of temptation, but its actual role in Buddhism is easier represented as a figure that brings ruin and the "death of enlightenment" by introducing temporal matters that can unseat you spiritually, and yet it is also through this tribulation that provides the focus to understand what it really means to release yourself from the material world (thus the transition from the Devil, to the Tower, to the Star). The Tower is also arguably a penis.

Is it possible to save up more than one Mementos request and do more than one at a time? Spending two time slots on one mini-boss seems like a bit of a waste.

Oh lol actually I just realized, throughout the whole game, all of the Palace shadows have a naming scheme...(endgame spoilers) They are all named after fallen angels in SMT's universe. The boss turns out to be diet-YHVH and the Four Angels. So this is a proper SMT game, with you as a True Neutral protagonist who takes out all the Chaos guys, then beats up the Law guys and makes the world better for everybody. You even get a choice at different times to side with Chaos or Law, which result in bad endings.

I like what Futaba can do but she's honestly kind of a nerf.

I don't know poo poo about tarot cards but I heard each one is a goofy take on what they normally should be. I get that hanged man talkin' on a cell phone is funny but the rest fly over my head. Strength is one of my favorites bc I think the design in P5 is hilarious. In the original card, the implication is that the woman is a gentle but firm spirit who has tamed the beast, suggesting that "Strength" implies more of an inner strength than a physical one. By contrast... P5's design has the woman looking like a demented psychopath prying a lion's mouth open, and the lion looking fearful. It's about physical strength, even sadism, which makes it perfect for the Wardens (or at least Caroline).

Every description of the Devil arcana I can find emphasizes how the chains on the human figures are very loose and could easily be escaped, symbolizing how their bondage is mental, not physical, but the P5 one has very tight collars.

One more favorite that's more of a clever subversion than just a sight gag (like some of them): As I posted earlier when talking about Tatsuya and Persona 2, the Sun arcana is a powerful positive one which indicates all the positive things we associate with the sun irl: new beginnings, vitality, and triumph. It's the dawn, and the dawn is a thing with pretty unambiguously positive implications. Usually... If you live in the desert or labor in the fields, the sun is a pretty merciless piece of poo poo.

ThisIsACoolGuy posted:I don't know poo poo about tarot cards but I heard each one is a goofy take on what they normally should be. Magician: Instead of being a wise holyman who provides the fool with advice, here he's a crass looking criminal sort looking over a bloody table of tools. Priestess: she's looking at porno Empress: Instead of dignified and with mental strength, here she's in a skimpy outfit and got her legs spread and a sword and shield, implying physical strength. Emperor: Instead of sitting dignified and stern he's smoking a bowl and leaning against his throne. Hierophant: Instead of smiling softly and raising his hand invitingly, he's giving a shiteating grin and a thumbsdown. Lovers: Instead of an obvious adam and eve thing, this one seems to be depicting a love triangle Chariot: The man riding the chariot isn't strong and confident, he's got a broken arm and a beaten down, pathetic expression. Justice: He has empty scales in the proper tarot, but here he has a scale where a money bag is outweighing a heart, IE: money is more important than justice. Hermit: Instead of a quiet, railthin wiseman type, he looks kinda fat and is also sticking his tongue out. His lamp's also off. Wheel of Fortune: Instead of the sphinx on type being a neutral figure, he's sneering down, and instead of the figures in the wheel being fine where they are they seem desperate to get off mr. bones' wild ride. Strength: Someone already covered this - instead of mental strength, she's just wrestling a lion. Hanged Man: you get this one, but it's worth nothing that the symbolism of the hanged man is that by being disconnected from other people, he's found enlightenment. Naturally the cellphone goes against that. Death: The point of Death is that it isn't actually physical death, just an emotional one - the figure in black in the actual death card isnt harming anyone, he's just arrived. Here death is going to town. Temperance: Instead of a calm transfer of water from one cup to the other, it seems all over the place. Instead of a quiet expression, the angel seems surprised and lost. The terrain behind her is barren instead of grassy wetlands. Devil: Someone already covered this - loose binds became tight ones. Tower: The arrows firing at the people escaping the tower mean that they're screwed even though they've escaped. Star: Instead of pouring water into the lake, the woman is drinking greedily from it. Moon: Instead of the dog, the fox, and the lobster all staring up wistfully and peacefully at the moon, they're all ganging up on a person. Sun: Instead of children below the sun, there's two skeletons - the sun's burned the entire area to a crisp. Judgement: Instead of a young family celebrating below the angel, it seems to be a skeleton and two people praying for mercy.
