If you do this without me, you'd better make my husband eat one, too.Iron Crowned posted:It really does make me wonder how we figure out what's edible. Most likely, through color association, observing animals, and trial-and-error. One thing my parents taught me during forced foraging outings (when normal kids got to play sports and do the Nintendo) is that you should always test a potentially edible green plant or berry by rubbing a small amount of juice on your upper lip. If it stings or smells bad, don't try to eat that thing. If the lip thing seems too risky, you can do the same thing on the inside of your elbow and watch for a reaction. I should note that they are by no means expert foragers, so please don't take my advice on this, but to be fair I did grow up basically munching my way through the woods and never got sick or died on the plants they showed me. Oh, and our neighbors called the cops on us once because my parents were cooking shaggymanes and they thought we were going to poison ourselves. I was happy because those things are gross and slimy.

Last night I made rolls with rice paper for the first time. It had mango, lettuce, and lime sriracha cream cheese. It was a spur of the moment experiment with what I had in the house at the time. It tasted pretty good, could have used some more ingredients, and sprouts instead of lettuce. But being my first time ever rolling rice paper, it was not pretty. The loose chopped lettuce didn't help, I'm sure. Also sorry for the dumb snapchat. But they look even more like stuffed condoms than normal.

I was writing a story when I had a thought for a recipe someone would make for a thing. But now I'm curious if it could actually work. It'd basically be a bologna sandwich with tomato relish, spinach, mozzarella, mayo, and mustard. I could have the sandwhich toasted or panini'd, and the meat grilled if that'd help any.

Espresso with a lemon twist is absolutely a thing, and has been for a long time. Y'all ever have that bulletproof coffee that was trendy for a little while? You make some strong coffee and blend in butter and coconut oil. My mom made some for me when I was over at my parents' house a while back and it gave me instantaneous diarrhea. Tasted like greasy coffee (the coffee, not the diarrhea (but I bet the diarrhea tasted like that too)).
