To be fair to Trotz, Shattenkirk was rear end last night. Probably his worst game in a Washington uniform. Still no excuse for most of his usage decisions. Too much 4th line, not enough 3rd line, not enough Ovie, Carlson against Toronto's top line.

I love Ovi, but he is not a great transition player and hasn't been for a long time. Caps fans always get on their feet at Verizon Center when he rumbles through the neutral zone, but he can't do poo poo with the puck at the blue line and almost always coughs it up. If they were able to set up more in the offensive zone like they are capable of doing, they could get Ovi more ice time and pick Toronto's lovely defense apart. There's been spots in this series where it looks like a Caps PP when it's 5v5, but they haven't scored often enough to put the games away.
