Well along the lines of lovely Patriots players, this is a weird one. Tom Brady is basically buddies with Donnie, but he just announced that he won't be at the White House today due to "personal family matters". https://twitter.com/MikeReiss/status/854689420590690305 I bet Giselle's pissed. Edit: darn, looks like his mom has been sick. facialimpediment fucked around with this message at 14:50 on Apr 19, 2017 |

Meanwhile, Rep. So here's a thought. There has to be a few places like that around. Where they have a us/state rep, but a really low pop why not get George Soros or something to fund like 500 dudes to move to these places and get someone not lovely elected. Edit: I guess it'd be kinda expensive... Defenestrategy fucked around with this message at 15:45 on Apr 19, 2017 |

So, Trump's 100 days is up on the 29th, next Saturday. Know what else is scheduled for that day? Goverment shutdown. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/04/how-trumps-first-100-days-could-end-in-a-government-shutdown/523434/ quote:Federal funding for most departments runs out on April 28, and House and Senate staffers are using the ongoing two-week congressional recess to negotiate a spending bill that would cover the final five months of the fiscal year. Despite their minority status in Washington, Democrats are feeling bullish about the talks, and the 100-day marker is a big reason why. Still reeling from their failure to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Republican leaders have little appetite for an all-out brawl that could result in a shutdown at a time when they are trying to prove to their constituents they can effectively run the country.

As a Canadian I'm only vaguely aware of the full implications of a government shutdown and the mechanics behind it. Considering how the current administration is going, how possible is it that a shutdown would last a lot longer than the last one? Or is it more more likely we're going to see it happen Carter style with the government shutting down every time a treasurer farts?

However, the last shutdown inflicted by the GOP was monstrously unpopular for them. While shutdown, non essential staff are effectively laid off while essential staff work on IOUs, and it caused a debt rating downgrade. The GOP currently has full majority of all the branches of government, and it's still reeling from the fallout over their AHCA failure. Causing a shutdown this soon into the term would probably be catastrophic to any attempt to make further legislation.

Even with a scary black man in office to yell OOGIE BOOGIE about to deflect blame republicans still took a thrashing in opinion polls. Right now they wouldn't even have that fig leaf for their own actions. They'll probably pull a Boehner and come crawling hat in hand to avoid one because God knows Cruz and his crew are furiously masturbating about the idea of causing one. Unless the crazies have fully and completely taken over then we probably get to find out what a world reserve currency default looks like. If that happens, loving welp. "Here there be dragons" is about the best explanation.
