why do these guys care about FPS so much? there's already a dozen amazing first person shooters out there, from sim to tactical to arcade. why do they care so much about shooting people in first person?

Because it's the only thing in Star Citizen's jank rear end tech demo that Elite doesn't have. Therefore it is better.

Cymellion, you're so silly, there's no need for you to leave SC just because you're on everyones KOS lists, If it's any consolation, you're probably on a KOS list for every online game you play or will ever play.

TheAgent posted:why do these guys care about FPS so much? there's already a dozen amazing first person shooters out there, from sim to tactical to arcade. why do they care so much about shooting people in first person? They don't care about shooting people in first person. They care about interacting with their autism chariot in first person. They care about flying around and playing the role of Malcolm Shepard as they fly their starship Millennium Beepop around the galaxy. The primary draw of Star Citizen isn't that it's a game, it's that it's supposed to be some kind of immersive experience. You're not playing a space sim, you're participating in a First Person Universe. Elite is a game that features tight mechanics and a coherent design philosophy that covers every aspect of player interaction. The priority is providing high quality gameplay. In contrast Star Citizen's priority is the narrative. In Elite your character is a sterile, unimportant participant who has no impact on the uncaring galaxy at all. Star Citizen markets itself as something more immersive and player-oriented, that's designed to compel the player to play for one more hour because of how good the story is. The problem is that the story was derivative and clichéd to begin with and has to deal with the insufferable amateurism of a visionary who thinks that jets in space is still a revolutionary concept for a science fiction universe and is so creatively bankrupt that he can't describe anything without referencing the prior work that he stole it from.

8,000 us dollars buys me a cruise in the bahamas with high end escort for 3 nights and her friend or it eliminates my credit card debt almost or it nearly pays off my car or I can buy nearly every high profile game released in this last decade with amazing hardware to play it on or it buys me enough cocaine to go back to rehab or it pays for personal training, 3x a week for almost 10 months or it pays for my wedding or I buy spaceships not even a choice, really

What did it for me was seeing CIG utterly and completely gently caress up CitCon and then fail to deliver Squadron 42 in 2016 like they said they would. I hadn't played the game since May, saw nothing that would make me think they would even change, and decided that I was better off getting over $500 refunded than running the risk of getting nothing.
