Turns out I'm probably never even going to start Tower because the Mementos request to start it can't actually be completed the first time you head in :(. All the time between Palace 6 and 7, whenever that is, will be winding up everyone else I possibly can.

You don't need to complete it in order to start it. Attempt to do the request, fail miserably and pull back. Then go to the arcades and ask around and you'll be guided to Shinya in Akihabara.

I think the single-biggest things that would have improved the game (general plot structure spoilers) is if you flipped the Madarame and Kaneshiro palaces around (to introduce Makoto earlier) and made Haru a plot-unlock normal social link after the Kaneshiro bank like Goro starts out, perhaps with Makoto formally introducing you during the summer trip.)

I don't know if the genre will ever be rid of this, if it isn't a quirk of Japanese storytelling then it must be some deemed-necessary failsafe to make sure the audience is absolutely 100 percent following all the story progression.

I don't mind a certain amount of banal text messages, it feels authentic that the kids would text each other regularly, although they never do stop texting about really sensitive, criminal matters.

Goddamn. Palace 3 is a helluva dungeon when you try to make it in one go and coming out with 100k+. Ended up draining everyone of SP completing and using up almost every SP item I had, but came out with 140k before selling treasure.

That was a proper challenge.

There's also the idea that you might put the game down at any arbitrary point in the story, and should be able to pick it back up with minimal fuss.

western games do it too. play mass effect 2 and try and keep track of how many times they mention the reapers are coming to kill everyone. part of it's just that that's how people talk to a certain extent, people reestablish important information alot, part of it is to make sure nobody misses it, and part of it's that these games are long @f and it'd be easy to forget plot points. video games are the longest storytelling medium in existence. obviously reading speed varies but it takes an average reader maybe 30-40 hours to read the entirety of lord of the rings or war and peace. you could do that twice in the time it takes you to beat this game.

One serious gameplay complaint: why the hell does only one party member get debuffs for almost the entire game, and then only Tarunda? On Hard, I feel like Joker has to be on permanent debuff duty in boss fights because nobody else can pick up that slack. Sure, Debilitate helps, but you're not likely to have that until the tail end.

I really don't know what flipping Madarame and Kaneshiro would do. Like, I love Makoto and she's my favourite member of the crew but she's already gets a fairly early introduction and I don't see how introducing her to the team earlier would help the plot structure exactly, especially if it's still followed by Madarame. Outside of maybe starting Judgement earlier? If anything I think the game would suffer from having Kaneshiro right after Kamoshida, because he's got a pretty lackluster dungeon and character. Madarame's not a great villain but he's got a good personal connection to Yusuke and is a more appropriate opponent for the gang's first real outing imo.

Haru should definitely be introduced way earlier though and I have no idea why she wasn't. It's kinda strange.

Morgana gets Sukunda and Goro Debilitate. Every character specialises in one buff or debuff except for Rakunda, which is Joker exclusive.

Just having a few MP Adhesive 3's in general completely changes the game. I went from barely having enough cash to scrape by to having so much extra money now that I don't have to actually buy healing items that I might as well just bribe Sae into looking the other way during the interrogations. I'm sure she wants Makoto to go to a good college, and with the money I could slip under the table she could afford it now too.

Go back to the velvet room entrance and speak with the attendant to get a full refill on hp and sp. Or uh if the problem is you're running out of sp partway though the final boss I guess you need to level grind or fuse better personas to make it go faster

When does Morgana get Sukunda? He's almost 40 and still hasn't have it yet.

Not that I'm sure he actually has time to cast it, other than maybe at the very start of the fight.

Garudyne
Magarudyne
Wind Boost
Wind Amp
Mediarahan
Samarecarm
Miracle Punch
Evade Elec/Masukunda/Salvation/Diarahan

Could probably drop Miracle Punch, maybe Samarecarm.
