They're all getting paid the going rate as contractors because there's no loving way in hell you're getting a board certified neurosurgeon with 10 years of experience as an SME for anything less than 325k, and even then that's pushing it. We've got basic neuroscience clinicians making close to GS14/15 pay and they're at the bottom rung for SMEs.
