I still see a lot of undergrads around campus with FMA shirts and pins and keychains and stuff. When I ask my students who are into comics about what they're into I hear a lot about it too. I think there was a remake of it a few years ago that might contribute to its persistant popularity. I mean, it's old, but I don't think it's any older than DBZ or Akira were when I was a kid.

The manga only ended in 2010 and the good anime in 2012, so it's certainly not ancient. It's also an incredible story so I would consider it timeless
