I really like what SukaSuka is selling so far. It's avoiding being tragedy porn by having interesting and likable characters and interactions. Also it's really drat cute when it wants to be.

The general premise is, apparently, of seeing a war from the perspective of the support staff back home, who have to physically and emotionally patch the front-line troops up between missions. So yeah, there're going to be casualties.

Bland McHuman isn't exactly some blank slate character. He seems to be a few centuries old at least and has his own share of PTSD that he's at least put aside

Yeah, he'll be interesting once his deal is revealed, but for now we don't have much to go on and his character design is somewhat plain.
