Emelin on a bottom pairing is probably fine. It's mostly painful to see him get top minutes and a top salary for 3rd pairing performances and judgement. I can't imagine he'd be worse than Nesterov or a major downgrade from Davidson

Is it just me or does Nesterov shy away from physical contact? I've seen him several times just give up on going after the puck in the corner when a forechecker is near.

I looked up all the bottom pairing D on Corsica and it turns out Emelin has been a bit better than Beaulieu with a lower PDO. Also Brandon Davidson is fuckin awesome.

Beaulieu is a good offensive dman and can track his man well enough, but he's bad at seeing the whole ice and if his partner is erratic and just not in the right spot, he can get caught out *badly*. It's why he works well with Jamie Benn, did okay with Shea Weber, is pretty good with Petry and is terrible with Nesterov and Emelin.
