Metallica got really good once they abandoned the one-note approach characterized by their pre-Load albums. Their later work, King Nothing, Death Magnetic, and particularly Hardwired and them putting their unique stamp on some blues standards in Garage, Inc. stands as one of the greatest musical transition games of all time.

You guys ready to hear a satanic song?
I actually really like Load and Reload. They're good hard rock albums. If you combine the good songs from each then you'd have a really great record.

Low Man's Lyric is a top 10 Metallica song. Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, and Fixxer are also tremendous.

I have not listened to any Metallica since I was a kid. My big brother and cousin loved heavy metal so I know a lot of old stuff by them and Megadeth and so on. Maybe I should give the new stuff a listen, your description sounds a little hard to believe but interesting.

Also gave a recent listen to some old Guns n Roses. Still good.

Speaking of, the funniest part of Some Kind of Monster was when Metallica went to see Newsted's new band and they freaked out that Newsted's band was the future.

Oh god, that is one of the greatest docs ever made. It's like the sequel to Spinal Tap, except real.

You should probably have cafe au lait and bignet at Cafe du Monde on a weekend morning just for the experience. But generally eat literally anywhere that isn't in the French Quarter. The Quarter is just too touristy and crowded. I'm sure there's good food there too but my general tourist in new orleans advice is to stay out of the heart of thetourist trap.

Not that I'm a local, but I once stayed in NO for a week. We stayed at a dude's house in the Marigny and spent a fair amount of time there and in the Bywater and St. Claude, and there was just amazing food everywhere.

Can't go wrong with the musuems and the surgical sciences one is a personal favorite, even if it's small. Garfield Park Conservatory is also really nice. See if there are any night events at the observatory. Depending whenn you're around check Metro, Lincoln Hall, the Vic, Subterranean for shows. Wicker Park is good for shopping and food. Sox games are way more relaxed than Cubs (cheaper too!) but the team sucks.

Tons of good restaurants, so what are you looking for? Frontera is my favorite steakhouse, Oiistar is best ramen, tons of good sushi, Chinatown is worth killing an entire day in. Also good tacos everywhere.

Go to the Green Mill for jazz and cocktails, go to the Half Acre taproom for really good beer.

Tons of good stuff. Feel free to PM me.
