Ah just listen to all of them or none of them. Let me tell you something. Yesterday I walked out into my yard and there's a monkey there. It's not unusual it happens a lot where I live. Now this monkey had got hold of a pipe wrench from my shed which it is totally not allowed to do and it was beating the hell out of this chicken. It was beating on its spine. Like really hard. Now, to me this was a very black and white issue, morally speaking. There was right and wrong there, even supposing that the chicken had done something to anger the monkey. That was not right.

The thing is with larger issues than that one is that they're not only incredibly complicated but you always get second hand accounts of them. They're written so large and in such shorthand terms that they're never anywhere near the truth of the matter. Any agency that dares throw commentary on this stuff post-reportage only muddies the waters even further. Perspective layers on perspective and agenda dogpiles on agenda until somewhere out there you can end up with a guy who's on national television saying that chickens are brutal animals that cause Crohns disease and that monkey was a freedom fighter. None of it is true.

You want to listen to some political commenters then listen to my long suffering wife who never wanted those chickens in the first place and sleeps in the spare room now or listen to Bill from next door who lays traps for the monkeys, like really nasty over-the-top traps. Life is full of dumb idiots with opinions that don't matter but at some point you've got to say to yourself these are my monkeys, my chickens and I'm going to make this thing work. gently caress political commenters.

Well to try and ease you in:

Try some Adam Curtis documentaries. They will hopefully show you that the world is far more complicated than the simple paradigm presented by Alex Jones et al. There are problems with Curtis's view and some will criticise him but it's beautifully presented and there is a wealth of information. Remember that it's just his interpretation though, no one knows all the answers no matter how compellingly they present it.

To go back in time a bit try "The Power of Nightmares" from 2004

or more recently "Bitter Lake" from 2015

or his most recent "HyperNormalisation"

If you want some reading about globalisation, the banking crisis and the EU I would suggest you read through

Golem XIV

It can get pretty dense sometimes but you can read through his posts from 2010 onwards to get a very informative view of what happened around the world after the financial crisis and how the politicians and banks used it for their own advantage and screwed the common people to save themselves. He's even been on the loving Keiser Report so he should have some bonafides for you.

I used to love a good conspiracy, David Icke was my flavour when I was young and bored. I started on the x-files, started to love UFO stories and ended up on Icke's stuff. It all seemed so compelling for a while until i actually thought about it for a second, then the whole thing just falls apart. I guess slightly strangely it was Loose Change that snapped me fully out of it, I guess my critical thinking had sharpened up by then, but I remember watching it and just thinking at every point "What the gently caress is this, that can't be true! This is bolllocks!"

I have noticed that, back in the day when I was reading Icke (2000+ ish) and others the conspiracies where much less crazy and divorced from reality than they are now. (Edit: I forgot about the lizard thing! Ignoring the lizard thing.)The thing about conspiracy commentators (pushers) is that they constantly have to one up the last conspiracy. That's how you end up with people completely divorced from reality and arguing that actual events like Sandy Hook literally never occurred.

Some books that show the interconnectedness of the world and how the confluence of events and people acting independently for their own self interest can look on the surface like a global NWO conspiracy (obviously actual conspiracies are part of life) are

Treasure Islands
and
McMafia

also Jon Ronsons book Them:Adventures with Extremists

Conspiracy theories are actually a way of simplifying the world, much like religion, and hopefully those books will show it more complicated than that.

And before you do anything else watch this

Jon Ronson gives a talk in a pub The highlight being describing his trip to Bohemian Groove with Alex Jones

RagnarokAngel pointed out, correctly, that Americans like to draw false equivalencies where none exist. That's not the fault of "the left". Blame the media if you want, but it's not really their fault either; claiming that the truth is in the middle has been an American culture thing for decades so maybe blame Gen X for perpetuating it so much, I guess

Like Trump is actively under investigation by the FBI and apparently has been for months. No one's disputing it or claiming that Democrats are just as bad but the reality is that probably nothing is going to stick to Trump and that's depressing to think about

I understand you're not really good at understanding what is true and what isn't, but will you allow me that if one crazy person uses a made up source by another crazy person to verify something a third crazy person claimed( instead of, say, consulting witnesses or experts), then it is not actually verified?

Alex Jones remembers his weird-rear end twist on everything, so most of what he says is something that he misinterpreted on his own show weeks/months/years before into something totally different. If you'll google it then you'll find something vaguely similar but not quite the same.

One example from last year: at some point Obama was saying that it only would be reasonable for Trump to call the election rigged if he'd been leading by like 15 points in the polls and then lost. Jones took this to mean that Obama had a slip of the tongue and their internal polls ACTUALLY showed Trump ahead by 15. Then later he'd throw out it out like it was proven fact in his little asides, like "-- and Obama's admitted now, on the record, that Trump's way ahead in internal polling ---"

In other conspiracy bollocks, have any Britgoons heard of the conspiracies surrounding the Fabian Society before? An ... acquaintance of mine recently dumped a verbal wall of text on me about them controlling Corbyn and all Leftist politics in Britain and I just couldn't stop laughing my rear end off. I mean, from what I remember they're a bunch of irrelevant, ageing Labourites that hitch onto the newest bandwagon to try make themselves feel important once in a while, yet this dude was making them sound like 5th dimensional chess masters controlling the entire Commonwealth since the Medieval ages.

Honestly, it was just nice to hear some home-grown conspiracies for a change, usually Brit Conspiracy Nutters just recycle the stuff the Americans are blathering/preach from the gospel of Icke/scream about Jews like Livingstone.

The Fabian society gets a lot of communist one world government boogeyman stuff thrown at it. Couple that with anti-peerage, eugenics and antiimperialism and you've got some old school miscegenation fears that could be easily updated. Remember when you could prove the existence of chemtrails because lighting a lighter under a chunk of "snow" would leave little scorch marks? "Water doesn't burn, this isn't real snow! The government is spraying this poison all over us!" It became a big Facebook meme and was all over all of the conspiracy sites

Since it was "verifiable" by finding results in a quick Google search, does that mean that <whoever> really was spraying snow-like chemtrails on everyone?

ignore for now that you can use a lighter to leave "scorch marks" on almost anything, including home-made snow and even ice

Well since you asked.

In terms of current events the Real News is alright if bland, You'd probably like it they interview whistleblowers and cover "why is this geopolitical thing really happening" but they back it up with evidence or make it clear that they're speculating based on something else. Less chemtrails are turning the frogs gay and more the US GOV is exacerbating international tensions with country X,Y,Z because it wants to renew its leases on military bases in region etc.

Quite liked listening to Free Speech Radio News, they cover stuff like protests and government militarization but they interview on the scene in the struggles. I also check the news section of Libcom.org its run by dirty commies and anarchists like me but it does have a lot of news from around the world.

Oh and for the middle east I follow the online news program Bread and Roses which is run by Iranian exiles and atheists. They're a bit close to the Dawkins crowd but they give a lot of information on Islamism while managing to avoid demonizing the peoples of the region.

I've also heard a lot of good things about Prof Richard Wolf but never got into him myself. You'd also like Chomsky's foreign policy stuff and Allan Nairn's they both go into detail about how the US government conspires with evil regimes around the world to torture and murder thousands of the common folk.
