Dear Sharks, I really wish you won the cup last year. I really do because a bunch of your guys deserve one and you're a good team. So there's that. But I have to point something out to you. This sucks, I've been waiting for San Jose @ Vegas for a long time so I can finally go to a game and cheer them. I've spent nine years, starting with the series that ended in an amazing 4OT loss to Dallas, watching a handful of guys try to win the cup for seemingly forever. The goalies have changed several times, the broadcasters have changed, and now apparently the core is going to change. Just for context: My level of Sharks/NHL fandom goes no further than "I watch these games on TV and try to remember who all of the players on my team are". I've never been to a game (lived too far away), and I don't really post in these NHL threads because I'm not hockey-smart at all, I just like watching a pack of men scramble like mad over a puck. And I hate to be the sort of shithead who declares he's done with a team after one too many losses, but drat the massive changes that the hot takes say are coming.

Adding a 40 goal scorer doesn't add 40 goals to your team total, it adds whatever the difference is between them and the top line player they're replacing. It's the whole limited ice time -> diminishing returns thing.

Talbot's problem is that if he gets scored on by a garbage goal, he completely collapses and lets everything in. Ben Bishop is a UFA. Montreal should sign him and carry on the proud tradition of LA trading away a good player for someone on an expiring contract who then leaves immediately for a better team. Then trade Price for some functional defense.
