The thing that's killing me in this game is urban combat. I can usually maneuver or evade around people in the open, but if I'm in a city, or even worse, in a building, they almost always get the drop on me unless I'm camping a closet or the stairwell of a 2 story. Any tips?

Any tips? Its going to be like any close quarters FPS where sound and knowledge of layout is paramount. I am not very good at aiming, but I've always been good at FPS with fast TTK like Action Quake 2, Counter Strike, Battlefield series, Rainbow Six Siege, etc because listening and out smarting is usually better than just having dead on good aim. Basically WALK everywhere, crouch walk if necessary, or stop and cover the direction of the last time you heard them and LISTEN for them to make sound. Once you know their general direction you have to commit to 1 of 3 plans: Camping where you think they will come through OR flanking them or rush where you think they are. 1. If you're camping yea sure hide in a closet or corner or whatever, though generally you should think of where you'd aim if you came through a door and do the opposite 2. If you're flanking them its always good to take unconventional routes like jump over a ledge / out a window instead of going a normal route. If you do this speed is key so dont worry about walking unless you can move/drop down quietly as well 3. If you're bum rushing you need to guess what side they are hiding on and be ready to shoot ASAP. If you're ever getting in a ring around the rosey on a building the winning move is almost always to stop and turn around and blast them when they come around the corner. Depending on how close they are to you you may need high mouse sensitivty and good aim for this to work. Sound is the key. One key thing to remember in PUBG is that once you're out of cover you should assume you're fully visible to the opponent even if they're still in cover themselves as everyone is always in 3d person, once you make your move you should close the distance as fast as possible, keep your sights fixed on where you expect the opponent to pop out and be in full-auto mode (or use a shotty). Flanking in this game only works if you have a tall barrier to work with or if you're willing to make a large circle and know for sure you're concealed against the floaty 3d person camera of omniscience your opponent is using.

Any tips? A good pair of headphones is the best thing you can have for this game. The directional sound is pretty good and you can generally keep track of people just through echolocation. Not always, but often.

Anyone have a good idea of how to airdrop faster? This game. Spent the entire game looking for something better than the Uzi I started with. Picked up an SKS and killed a guy with it when I got taken over by the blue and we were both running for a buggy at the edge, him coming from the inside. That was pretty fun, also picked up some scopes and then had to gun it because the blue was moving again. Then drove straight into the loving middle with about 11 people left, up to a shack where someone was clipping through the wall. Burst open the door and was about to pump him full of lead with my decked out Uzi. That was still on Single. Shot. Mode.  Let's hope that's the last time I forget to set that.

How do people feel about people teaming up on 3rd party voice chat in the solo queue? I have lost several games now to groups of 2-3 people clearly working together in solo games and it is really frustrating. My opinion is that these are little babby people who are too scared to play in team modes, but what does everyone else think?

Yeah I've seen this a bunch of times, 3 times in 1 night I've been killed by this. Sometimes it's not so obvious like when you kill one of them, but when you attack someone and get shot in the back then 2 people immediately start looting your corpse it's kind of hard not to get a little annoyed.

If you don't need the horizontal range to reach something you'll get there faster jumping out of the plane sooner relative to people jumping out of the plane when they're right over their destination.

I'm pretty sure there will be a system in place where it detects if you are in proximity to another player all match without shooting each other or something. I don't know if the steam API or whatever allows it, but you should never be allowed to get placed in the same solo game as someone on your friends list. That would be the most low-effort/high impact change to make. Of course there are easy ways around it, but you just wanna make it as much of a pain in the rear end as possible to attempt to discourage the behavior (as well as other detection methods too ofc, whatever they may be)

I got my first kill with the crossbow but man does it suck. It's pretty much only good for midrange combat where your prey has no idea you're around and they're completely motionless. Other than that, bleh. I can't even tell what the range on the thing is. I was camped out on a rooftop with 15 bolts and idly trying to shoot out windows across the street and my shots weren't even hitting anything. There was no visible bolt travel and I couldn't see them falling to the ground, I'd just shoot and see nothing happen.
