Memories of Dust is like, my most favorite track in a game full of badass tracks. Walking out into the desert with that thing playing feels almost Metal Gear-y in a way. Overall, I'm a huge fan of the game's use of fake vocals, real vocals, weird robot vocals etc. where other games would just put some generic ambient music. Really makes the soundtrack feel special. And we haven't even heard some of the other really cool and creepy and ominous ones yet! Also, uh, I'm getting some youtube suggestions on that video that seem a little spoilery in their titles?

By the sound of it, they're 1) Restricting the chance of ooatari (jackpot) to at least 1/400 and then later to 1/320 minimum, 2) requiring a minimum base 30% ball payout rate, starting from April 2016, and 3) Restricting the chance of kakuhen (it's this kind of serial jackpot feature in many pachinko games) to at most 65% starting May 2016. There's also the fact that pachinko is kind of dying game and has lost over 60% of its players over the last 20 years. Another nail in the coffin is that Japan voted to legalize casinos in December last year, so when all that is sorted out and casinos become legal (maybe later this year, maybe 2018), pseudo-legal pachinko parlors are suddenly going to face a lot more competition from a more legitimate option. e: Also I'm not sure whether this is actually government legislation or something else, given that pachinko is not-exactly-legal in the first place. That's what it sounds like. Gambling is illegal in Japan, with a few exceptions like horse races; pachinko is not one of those exceptions, instead being this shady as gently caress grey market, as you say. Frequently run by the yakuza. Anyway, the new law legalizes resort casinos, i.e. casinos integrated with hotels and whatnot. It's extremely unclear what this means for pachinko, other than competition. Funny enough, a plurality of Japanese citizens (44%) are still opposed to legalized gambling, so who knows where this is heading.
