My first game was Mario or Links Adventure. My parents don't game. One exception being is my mom loved Dr. Mario. She still asks me if there is any way for her to play Dr. Mario and I have to tell her "no" because she's bad with technology and would never understand emulators. :(

Why do moms love the Dr.?

There's a Dr Luigi now on Wii U and I think a 3DS one where Dr Mario and Dr Luigi join forces

I was hooked on the side quests when I had to get back a videogame for a kid.

I love Kiryu's response to the robbers who got rob.

Best advice I was ever given?

"Ticker, you'll be a lot happier once you stop caring about the opinions of a culture that is beneath you."

I learned my worth, learned the places and people that matter.

Opened my eyes.
My dad and me played Duke Nukem 3D together and at some point we got into a competition to see who could beat Command & Conquer first. I was a bit ahead, got to the last stage and then went to sleep. Then he pulled an all nighter to beat it and woke me up in the morning to show me he won.

My mom was pretty big on Sonic but couldn't beat the bosses so she would always call me to beat them for her. She still likes it but doesn't play much and would rather spend her time doing minigames on those Talking Cat apps.

My mom is basically a survivalist so the few times I've been able to get her to show interest in games is showing her virtual versions of places she's actually been, like Mt Zion in Fallout: New Vegas or the park in Firewatch.

Bayonetta on PC has been recently updated, with a mysteriously small update at only 22KB. Out of curiosity, some people have dug into the EXTRAS folder and found a new image. A lone picture of the character Sam Gideon from Vanquish, a third person shooter by Platinum Games and SEGA originally released in 2010 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Around our Kindergarten years my brother and I would make our mom play Super Mario 3 with us but we'd just hand her a controller that wasn't plugged in and tried to convince her she was playing.

I'm actually pretty impressed with how Sega Europe have managed the promotion around Bayo PC. They clearly didn't have a huge marketing budget, but they've gotten massive reactions out of it and it's clearly doing pretty drat well for them.

Sega has always been good at the PR game. "Sega does what Nintendon't" and all that. They're not afraid to experiment when it comes to promotion, like in this compilation of weirdness:

It's a fast-paced skill-intensive shooter with a lot of mobility options designed to be played as a never-stopping constant-rocket-sliding action game.

It's a third-person shooter with a very high emphasis on maneuverability and agility. You have the option to take cover but a lot of what you're doing is racing around the arena popping in and out of slow-motion to make precision shots when you get a chance. Lots of amazing setpieces, incongruous gung-ho dialog, QTEs where a robot shoots a giant cannon shell at you and you grab it and stuff it back down the barrel, that sort of thing.

It's big on slo-mo and instead of making it a separate button it activates contextually, at the moment where it feels the coolest.
