I grabbed volume one of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl in the women's history month sale but hadn't actually read it yet. This sale prompted me to download it and give it a look to see if I wanted to grab the rest and oh my goodness this book is so good. Definitely grabbing the other few volumes and the ogn.

Ewing mostly uses her for gags, honestly, including a great one where she tries to make friends with a rat-man and Songbird just flattens him because gently caress this 'friendship' poo poo, we have to win this fight.

New Teen Titans is good, but has definitely aged quite a bit. Avoid the New 52 Blue Beetle and Teen Titans books, they're awful.

If you ever enjoyed the older Teen Titans animated series, then the comics based off that version are pretty decent. They have some ugly art though.

Best advice I was ever given?

"Ticker, you'll be a lot happier once you stop caring about the opinions of a culture that is beneath you."

I learned my worth, learned the places and people that matter.

Opened my eyes.
Quick question: I have Annihilation, Annihilation² and GOTG up to #12 already. I stopped there because at that point a lot of Crossover fuckery begins and I'm not very well versed in the Marvel Galaxy. But this time I'd like to say "Screw it" and buy the remnant issues - up to #25 - I suppose. Am I going to miss a lot by not knowing what is going on on the rest of the Universe while the Guardians are doing their thing? Does it relies too much on War of Kings/Realm of Kings/Whatever comes next?

The first five volumes of this X-Factor series are outstanding. I loved them. I read it for a while longer through the library, but starting with Secret Invasion, it was never quite the same, and I have only the vaguest memories of what happened, aside from a major change of direction and setting, and a few new characters being added.

It's almost more of a noir book than standard superhero punch-kick action, with plenty of character development and a surprising amount of humor. It actually reminded me a lot of the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice Leagues, which are my favorite comics of all time (along with Starman).

X-Factor is really good, fun reading, at least until crossover stuff grinds it to a confusing mess. Up til that point it's one of my favorite Marvel runs - and coming in, I had no interest in Madrox or half the roster.

It's dope, it's not like a standard X-book, more like "Jaime Madrox is a sad sack noir detective surrounded by fellow x-misfits and they solve crimes and deal with how hosed up they all are" and it has some great moments. Don't mouse over this if you haven't read it! It has legit one of the most sad, gut-punch moments I've ever read in comics.

It's been awhile since I've read it, but five volumes sounds right about where I would have stopped. I think Secret Invasion was what derailed and really killed it for me. Whenever Stroman starts penciling is a good place to stop.

The baby?

I'm glad I'm not alone in loving the beginning of X-Factor, or losing interest with Secret Invasion crossover (and yeeeurgh, that Stroman art!). It also made Madrox my second-favorite Marvel character, after Daredevil. I wonder what he's up to nowadays.

It didn't seem to be included on the ComiXology sale page, but you also want to read the Madrox: Multiple Choice miniseries that launched this whole era of X-Factor. It was collected in a TPB that was later relabeled X-Factor Vol. 0: Madrox: Multiple Choice. Shame it isn't included as well, but it's also great.
