I wish I took a picture of the car parked next to mine yesterday. Lots of bumper stickers about snowflakes and safe spaces.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day saying "Chastity and Modesty are Parts of Faith" or something to that effect. No getting into heaven for you, sluts! Out of ask the things in the Bible you could pick it just seems strange to feel that strongly about that particular statement that you'd want it on your car. Do you think there's a set number for bumper stickers that should set off an alarm bell?

It's probably not one or two, but 10 is obviously a nut.

Maybe 3-4?

I got two. Bernie 2016 and Hillary 2016 with no other slogans on em. Which I kept both after the primary to show unity but didn't take either off afterwards out of laziness. I have some extra Hillary bumper stickers I never actually put on anything, I should put those over some random MAGA stickers

My two cents on bumper stickers. I saw something that said "NY is Red. "

I assume it's more of that bullshit red land poo poo.

Other stuff I seen Blue lives matter poo poo/the blue bar stuff. A pickup truck with a large US flag waving in the back. I'm pretty sure is some sort of traffic violation and against the flag code.

I never thought political bumper stickers were ever a good idea, especially in this climate.
I have a small silhouette sticker of Tracer on my back window because I'm an impatient rear end in a top hat of a driver.

But yes, I think 3 "strong opinion" stickers is a bell ringer for sure.

But I've never used it, because, as funny as I think it is, I'm worried it will come off as even more :smug: than the ":smuggo: Evolution" emblems. (Plus, right now, I'm smack dab in the middle of going a year without a car to see if I can do it.)

I think I remember it. It was something like the more bumper stickers on your car, the more aggressively you drove and the more prone to road rage you were. They speculated that those with more stickers more strongly identified their car as an extension of themselves.

Saw a gem the other day on a pickup truck with your typical hunting/fishing bullshit. One was the Confederate flag (I live in the Pacific Northwest) and the other had really small print that read "Stay back 100 feet or you will be shot" and had Arabic text underneath (that I am assuming was a translation of the English text.) These are the people I visualize rolling their vehicles over on the freeway or wrapping them around a tree at 100 mph.

It makes sense as a literal sign in Iraq, but as a bumper-sticker in Texas it indicates an rear end in a top hat.

Similar is the stickers/patches that say "كفّار" (kuffar, unbeliever/infidel). They weren't common in Iraq when I was active-duty, and anyways Marines are *really* strict about unauthorized ornaments on the uniform, but if I had ever had someone in my unit wearing one, I would've called a battery formation, had the patch publicly burned, and assigned them a 1,000-sandbag quota for being a dipshit and doing the enemy's psyop work for them.

Had to google it, but will save y'all time by noting that the "IYAOYAS" in the winged bomb on the image stands for "if you ain't Ordnance you ain't poo poo". Ordnance Corps in the US Army being a wide swath of jobs including ammunition storage and handling, but also repairing tanks, radar, etc. Almost all the Ordnance jobs are total pogue gigs with the exception of Explosive Ordnance Disposal, which in fairness is decently badass. Note that the badge shown in the image is *not* an EOD badge though, so presumably is more "I load the rockets onto the officer's helicopter at a FOB fifty miles away from the fight, drat I'm badass!"

Feel free to re-post my comments verbatim to your friend, and mention I was an LAR arty FO in the '03 invasion and support Socialism in America.

If it's the study I'm thinking of, number of stickers was related to feelings of "ownership" and identification with the vehicle. People with more bumper stickers were more likely to percieve incidents of poor traffic etiquette as being personal slights rather than being examples of people sucking at driving.

quote:

“The number of territory markers predicted road rage better than vehicle value, condition or any of the things that we normally associate with aggressive driving,” say Szlemko. What's more, only the number of bumper stickers, and not their content, predicted road rage — so "Jesus saves" may be just as worrying to fellow drivers as "Don't mess with Texas".

And its not just bumper stickers, other decorations and adornments personalizing a vehicle and making it more of an extension of the self were also correlated with road rage.

A skull that represents a superhero whose gimmick is specifically brutalizing criminals, no less.

I enjoy the punisher as a fictional character but anyone who flies the skull flag is pretty universally a scumbag according to my life experience thus far
