Beast wars was my favorite show as a kid and I rewatched the second season of beast wars recently and that poo poo still holds up. Rattrap was the best.

Two friends and I went through Beast Wars and Beast Machines I wanted to give Beast Machines the benefit of the doubt because it's just so easy to hate it But God drat if it isn't as bad as everyone thinks. The animation sort of looks better, but that's about as far as it goes, and it's actually worse at action scenes. It looks some what better thanks to it being WAY more stylized, but the actual designs are horrid, the plots are awful, the characters are awful, nothing makes a whole lot of sense if you think about it too much Beast Wars ran into some issues in its final season, but goddamn if Beast Machines doesn't earn its reputation.

They got a new writer to head the whole thing. I actually feel really bad for the guy because he was given total support by Hasbro and the station, and got to do the story he wanted to do, which is fairly high concept for a kids show. A philosophical story driven character piece, where the only restriction he got was that the good guys couldn't use guns Shame the actual story is a hot steaming pile.

It wasn't helped when the writesr were apparently told don't watch beast wars since they didn't want it to too continuity heavy. It's probably why Megatron went from this competent, but delightfully hammy villain into 100% serious business villain . Also Rhinox wanted to destroy all organic life for some reason. The vast majority of the cast got sudden changes to their personality that were for the worse and the new characters they added weren't very good.

I really dislike crazy future tech Batman for pretty much this reason. It let's writers get extremely lazy and just wave every problem away with what amounts to straight up magic at this point. Or doing something that could be incredibly simple in as convoluted or needlessly high tech a way as possible. Remember when Batman was investigating the chemical blast way back at the beginning and pulled out that stupid as hell floating spray bot twice as big as a Roomba from his rear end? Just give him a loving swab or something, have him spray the room with an aerosol can, jesus. Future tech Batman uses a juicero.

I'm waiting to get paid so I can play the Personas and get drafted into the futile Waifu War 5, so I'unno, but Nier Automata is slotted as GOTY 2017 in my list and it's gonna take a lot to make it budge. (also it might be hard for p5 to displace night in the woods too because that game is my aesthetic and by that i mean i'm also a hopeless 20-something person)
