Are you free to share some PMC backgrounds? Not necessarily their force compositions, but would be cool to see who else is out there.
Not yet! Jimmy can share the fluff, but I'd like to keep the comps secret. Mainly because I'll probably tweak them depending on whether we comedy-loss all of our planes.
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!!!!!

Alright, since my SK60 was down for repairs last mission I went around the world messaging boards trying to get a grasp on our possible competition. Unfortunately, it looks like a lot of them are keeping their force structure a secret for a moment. Not so surprising, it would behoove a lot of companies to do that, no reason to give out free intel. In addition, this is only a small fraction of the companies out there, there are a lot more that keep to the shadows. For example I keep seeing reports on a French company called La Légion but haven't gotten anything too solid on them yet, and there's an American company out there apparently called the "Swampy River Boys" still digging into that one as well.
Here is what I've gotten so far, but again, it's by no means comprehensive at the moment...
Let Koop 'n Rooivalk-helikopter
Following a severe round of electoral losses in Parliament, the ANC attempted to boost its flagging poll numbers by offering a number of subsidies to major South African companies in an attempt to boost employment and secure victory. Denal used its funds to restart the production line of the Rooivalk helicopter, a multi-billion dollar program given production had gone cold in 2007 with promises from the government for a large order.
Unfortunately, Denel never received the promised funds, a new round of graft and corruption charges were leveled at a number of defense ministers and saw a general freeze on purchases. With so much money sunk into the new Rooivalk line, the company turned to a small group of grizzled Border War veterans, a keen sales team and some young hooligans from the Inkatha Freedom Party to form Denel Private Solutions.
The goal of the organization is to make as much money as fast as possible to help boost the company’s income and help recoup some of the expenses from long R&D Cycles. It is hoped that with a strong showcase of its hardware, Denel can finally win a large contract to help it finally win a market return for some of its products. Denel PS prefers to work with governments when at all possible, with the goal of getting them to sign a contract for a series of Rooivalk helicopters. Per their agreement with the IKP Denel has also agreed to host Zulu cultural exchange festivals around the world. Thanks the the companies promotion, Zulu culture has seen a massive spike in intrest on the internet, with gumboot dancing now rapidly becoming a popular Youtube meme. Denel prefers smaller support style missions with high payouts as they not only allow the company to make some money, they can also safely showcase their helicopters.
Os mosqueteiros fiéis or simply Fiel ("The Faithful") have had one of the most interesting and sordid histories of the many recently created private military corporations.
Brazil was undergoing tremendous political and social upheaval. A recent corruption scandal had seen the arrest of the President, Vice President and a full half of the National Congress of Brazil. Rumors swirled that more hadn’t been arrested since the military feared that people would accuse them of launching a coup, so they left those in place guilty of only minor graft. More troubling was how deep the corruption went. High profile public figures, captains of industry, leading families and the leadership of a number of football clubs were also caught up in the anti-corruption sweep. One of the hardest hit was the Corinthians Paulista Football Club, which saw many of their managers and players arrested, and the team’s assets frozen. Devastated, but determined, the thousands of fans poured their money together to at first try bribing their beloved team free. Unfortunately with the new anti-corruption laws, they’d have to work within legal channels to free the team, which would require millions for a competent defense team.
Luckily, Cargill Multinational had a solution. In 2019 they themselves had been found guilty of a number of environmental abuses in the Amazonian rainforest, chief of which was the discovery of their use of a small squadron of Super Tucano planes to firebomb endangered jaguar habitats. Needing a Brazilian proxy, they offered the use of their planes and the services of their legal department to fund the creation of an aviation wing of the sports team. This wing would be an active paramilitary force the company and others could use in the Amazon. With the fate of their beloved club in the balance, the organization was set loose. In one year and after several contracts, the fan club had not only managed to secure their team’s freedom, they also forged a reputation for brilliant COIN formations. They also dropped several bombs on the Paulista Derby stadium while it was undergoing renovations.
Fiel has managed to engage in several highly effective COIN operations, and have branched out into providing more ground support for a number of operations. Most recently, they have just returned to Brazil in triumph following their support of Amour and Company in their conflict with ranchers in Patagonia. Embraer has recently floated the team a loan to use several newer aircraft to augment their fleet and to showcase Brazilian native arms, as well as provided several multirole fighter to provide defense and allow the team to branch further out.
Fiel specialized in running COIN and CAS missions, so prefer contracts heavily focused on those. They are also obsessed with bringing glory to the Corinthians Football club.
The DSPF
In 1989, Pepsico purchased 17 submarines, a cruiser, a frigate and a destroyer from the Soviet Union, this marked a brutal and tragic escalation of the ongoing Cola Wars. Forced to respond to Pepsico’s armed blockades of their strategic ports and distribution centers, Coca-Cola sought the purchase of a number of surplus jets and other equipment to secure their sea lines of communication. Pepsico responded by in turn acquiring their own jets and launching tactical bombing strikes on several foreign processing centers. What followed would be a decade of reprisal after bloody reprisal as the two conglomerates slugged it out for soft drink dominance.
The war raged on until 2005 when a tentative peace treaty between the two factions was negotiated by Kofi Annan in a special session of the United Nations. Both sides had grown weary of fighting yet were leery of the other side’s intentions and wouldn’t trust them to disarm. Peace was finally mediated when the Dr. Pepper-Snapple group offered to step in as peacekeeping forces. Neutral in the conflict, Dr. Pepper-Snapple had built enough international goodwill and a strong reputation among the combatants due to its fiercely neutral stance. Pepsico and Coca Cola agreed to a mutual limited disarmament and Dr Pepper-Snapple began to patrol and defends the ravaged areas between the two sides.
Today the Dr. Pepper-Snapple Peacekeeping Force or DSPF is deployed in five theatres around the world, maintain their charters clear missions of humanitarian aid, protection of vulnerable peoples and bringing the refreshing taste of Dr Pepper to those regions previously denied access on cultural or religious grounds. While most of the organizations resources are tied up in other engagements around the word, a small rapid response force stands ready to be deployed anywhere in 48 hours’ notice. While the DSPF does seek profit like all PMCs, it is more cognizant of its image around the world and actively seeks contracts with sides that advance more humanitarian goals in line with the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Be You marketing campaign of 1983.

In 2019, a trio of MIG 23’s departed Cuban airspace pursued by a number of fighters. Dodging and weaving for several hours, the fighters finally managed to land in Venezuela and vanish in the miasma of the civil unrest of the nation. A week later however, a number of aircraft departed Venezuelan airspace and launched a daring raid on a Cuban airbase, stealing several more Floggers and one of Cuba’s few SU-30’s. In video released online afterwards, the leader of the group, a former G2 agent known only by his code name El Presidente Grande announced his formation of the Blue Star Alliance, a mercenary group made up of various intelligence agents from across Central and South America. Together with his 2nd in command Penultimo and their public relations operative known only by his handle 1-ITO, the Blue Star Alliance quickly assembled a sizable group on the island of Grenada.
In his manifesto, Presidente declared that his defection was sparked upon his purchase of blue jeans on his first mission outside of Cuba. Tasting the freedom of capitalism, he and his friends opted to defect and bring their highly sought skills to market along with other disgruntled operatives from around the Latin American Sphere. Blue Star is decidedly mercenary, they are willing to take any contract, so long as it has a payout for the many members and their Swiss bank accounts. Their equipment is highly diverse, having been scavenged/stolen from all across Central and South America.
Presidente and his inner cabinet remain a mystery to the outside world however; various intelligence agencies have been unable to breech their inner circle. Their group operates out of an unknown location somewhere in the Caribbean. From this hidden mother base, the group has struck out several times on missions around the world. What they lack in material consistency, they make up for in infiltration skills and tactical planning.
Die Von Luft Fliegende Zirkus or The Von Luft Flying Circus, can trace it families history back to its august founding in 1906 when its patriarch Zigfried attempted to fly by tying several sacks of helium to his back. The attempt failed, but upon his crash landing to earth, he stopped an erstwhile assassin attempting to slay Emperor Franz Joseph, for which he was given a peerage in thanks. Zigfried and his progeny (for which his fertile family has been blessed with many children and more bastards then most other noble families), would go on to become legendary aviators throughout Europe.
The most famous of the Von Lufts however was Marta “Gans” Von Luft, the famed Austrian ace who was originally a tutor for the family before she married Peter “Einzelgänger” Von Luft and helped him and his children escape to Nazi Germany to Sweden in a stolen Messerschmitt 109. Their love story was chronicled in the hit 1986 Tom Scott movie “The Sound of Thunder.” Following the war, the Lufts returned home to their native Austria and began a successful post war career as stunt pilots, visiting around the world and wowing audiences with their audacious maneuvering, high speed stunts and a general unwillingness to submit themselves to the expected norms of the time.
With the rise of PMC’s the family was able to quickly parlay their skills as pilots into the new military industrial complex. The family seeks out missions that will test their skills as pilots and demonstrate the greatness of the Von Luft Family name. Having already secured a fortune in gold buried under several mountains in Switzerland, the monetary reward of a mission is more of a secondary concern for the Von Lufts.
Canada Express
In 2020, the Canadian government opted to once again shrink the size of the military to invest in further developments to their country’s social safety net and to help pay down additional amounts of the nation’s debt. The government in Toronto also opted to create several expansive national parks in Qubec. These moves, while popular unfortunately cost thousands of soldiers and maple farmers their jobs. Sensitive to the needs of these newly unemployed groups, the Canadian government offered each individual a cash settlement as compensation for their sudden loss of jobs. The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, needing a new line of revenue, turned to the now surplus military equipment and bought several cargo haulers using it’ members settlements as collateral, forming the nucleus of a new group Canada Express. Using these jets, the Federation signed onto a risky contract using the transports to bring critically supplies needed in the Tomsk Oblast due to the Russo-PetraNovaská Civil War. Running a gauntlet of SAMs and fighter cover, the intrepid Canadians managed to make their delivery on time, earning them worldwide praise for their humanitarian efforts and a five star Yelp review.
Canada Express has expanded their fleet following a recent successful delivery of humanitarian supplies to the city of Lhasa. Several unemployed Hornet pilots were able to join the up and coming firm to provide escort and high risk small package delivery options for the company. With a robust transportation fleet and escort, Canada Express is now poised to become the premier high risk delivery operator operating around the planet.
Canada Express prefers to take contracts that involve a large amount of logistics and transportation. While fully armed and capable of combat, the members of the organization prefer to use diplomacy to solve conflict and operate in theater.
The PetraNovaská Liberation Front
In 1941, fearing the possible collapse of his government following the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin initiated Operation Oyster. With the evacuation of vital industry and personnel beyond the Urals, Stalin ordered the NVK to begin construction of a hidden city deep within the uninhabited Oblast of Tomsk. From here, he envisioned a hidden base which could allow a new wave of Soviet forces to pour forth and reap vengeance on the Germans. While the Nazi’s and their war plan were defeated, the project was reinitiated following the activation of the American’s atomic bombs, the objective of the city became now creating a hidden base from which planes could be hidden in the swamps of Vasyugan to launch a vengeful second wave assault on the Americans. Decades would pass, factories would rise, mountainous bunkers full of munitions and stockpiles would be created and more and more people would be sent to the city, dubbed PetraNovaská, only to never be allowed exit, an edit enforced by vicious NVKD and later KGB operatives and soldiers. PetraNovaská would become a premier manufacturer of Soviet arms, and thanks to thick swamp gas, the city was obscured by a haze which kept it off U-2 and later satellite flybys. Primitive computer lines to the Kremlin would allow up to the minute information to be delivered on weapons schematics.
The sudden fall of the Soviet Union took many by surprise. Only the premier and several high ranking generals were allowed knowledge of its existence. The three generals and one admiral who knew all tragically perished when their Yugo was hit by a semi-truck and Boris Yeltsin, upon assuming the presidency lost the location of the city in a drunken stupor. The city continued to receive up to date schematics from their connection to the Kremlin computer frame.
PetraNovaská revealed itself to the world in 2020, following a general famine and the death of their last aged KGB border guard when scouts in T-80s from the city were encountered by surprised residents of Tomsk. Shocked to discover that the Cold War had ended nearly three decades ago, and angered at their time spent in forced isolation, the residents of PetraNovaská turned to their literal mountains of buried weapons and planes and initiated a war of secession from the Russian Federation.
The PetraNovaská Liberation Front is the armed international wing of the PetraNovaskán military. Their goal is to raise global awareness of their city-state and secure international recognition by performing whatever missions may be necessary to get the requisite votes in the UN. The force utilizes whatever surplus weapons they can smuggle past the front lines, though it tends to be of poorer quality compared to their equipment back home which is being used in the war. They do tend to specialize in ground attack and close air support missions given their recent war experiences.
In the chaotic aftermath of China’s failed war with Taiwan, many of the criminal elements in Hong Kong and the other scattered parts of the country recognized the opportunity to finally spread their wings and expand their influence from their home bases. What began as a limited basis for cooperation would become the vast criminal syndicate known as Hex 34, a confederation of several of the most power criminal undergrounds in China and other parts of Southeast Asia.
While their operations initially remained in the realm of the normal for their groups, smuggling, extortion, prostitution, drugs, the rapid influx of displaced soldiers and hardware from the brewing civil conflicts gave several higher ranking members an idea for a possible expansion of their business. With the legalization of mercenary work, many were now finding their way to the various war damaged regions of the world, regions that just so happened to be rich in raw resources, be they human, man-made or natural, resources that Hex 34 specialized in controlling and distributing.
Bribing, cajoling and even stealing a small armed wing of helicopters and a couple jets, Hex 34 made its first appearance in the fields of Northern Afghanistan on contract with the government in Kabul to assist in peacekeeping. While Hex 34 managed to fulfil its contract, rumors swirled about their use of small armed teams to intimidate farmers and take control of poppy fields. While nothing was ever substantiated, a huge influx of heroin to the Southeast Asian market seemed to suggest that Hex 34 found a new revenue stream.
Hex 34 is a PMC willing to take a contract almost anywhere so long as they are paid. However, they place special emphasis on taking missions in resource rich third world nations, nations that just so happen to be possible staging grounds for the group’s alleged criminal activities. While Hex 34 will work to fulfil their contract, they tend to spend large amounts of time embarking on their own “independent missions” around the AO.
The Budweiser Thunderbirds.
Following the budget sequestrations of 2018 and 2019, the US Congress forced the Department of Defense to trim down the number of stunt teams funded by the government. After bitter arm twisting between the Air Force and Navy, it was decided to keep the Blue Angels squadron operational, while shutting down the Air Force’s Thunderbirds squadron, much to the dismay of fans around the world. A high profile fundraising campaign began called “Operation Thunderbird Down” with the goal of raising enough money to keep the popular squadron operation. While fundraising raised tens of million dollars, it was not enough to cover the long term operational expenses for the squadron. Anheuser-Busch, sensing a marketing opportunity, announced that it that would become the official sponsor of the squadron, with its flagship beer Budweiser becoming the drink of choice for the squadron.
Despite saving the squadron though, Anheuser-Busch sought to find a way to ensure the squadrons operational expenses remained in the black. Stunt shows didn’t bring in enough money, so an experimental camera program was launched and the team contracted to the government of Trinidad to deal rebels in Tobago. Broadcast live to homes and stadiums on Pay-Per-View, the squadron’s operation was a rousing success, with the downing of several rebel planes and the bombing of several positions broadcast in high definition real-time. Sensing an opportunity, the squadron’s owners invested more money into purchasing several more planes and support elements for the squadron.
The Thunderbirds are one of the more successful mercenary companies in the world. With access to a large amount of American surplus and a huge viewing market, their contracts don’t have to be as large as other companies in order to help turn a profit. This has allowed Budweiser to be more selective in their contracts, preferring ones that will allow the squadron to perform high speed pyrotechnical actions while keeping their image “clean”. However, at the end of the day, they have a viewing audience to satisfy and will find what they can for the expected show of speed, explosions and action.
الدرع or Alddare known colloquially as “The Shield” is an OPEC sponsored military unit created in 2019 following the various skirmishes and border clashes between the Saudi Arabia and Iran. During the conflict, Saudi Arabia was able to muster a significant number of more advanced fighters compared to the Iranian forces, however, many of these units despite their technological edge, had poor training and readiness, especially when compared to the Iranians who strenuously maintained their training standards since their war with Iraq. Between their pilots qualitative edge and their experiences and testing using SAMS in a number of theaters, the Iranians achieved a ratio of 5:1 losses against Saudi Arabia.
Both sides did lose an extensive number of planes, and once the UAE aerial interdiction was imposed, the surviving planes from both sides found themselves interred temporarily in Iraq while their home countries dealt with political fallout. Disgruntled, many of the pilots found common bond in their frustrations. As the political situation in the Middle East unraveled, many companies in OPEC began to worry about their oil fields as the possibility of mass conflict appeared near. Several board members approached the various members of the Saudi, Iranian and even Iraqi air force about mustering under a new banner.
Alddare operates a mixture of high-speed aerial interceptors and dedicated ground attack planes, their specialty being SEAD and CAS operations. Recently, OPEC has allowed the organization to take temporary contract outside their protection duties, with their most recent success coming from intervention in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Люди похилого віку, Starcy more commonly known as The Old Men is a Polish-Ukrainian Mercenary unit specializing in electronic warfare and providing miscellaneous services to their customers.
In 2019 several border incidents between Poland and the Ukraine saw the elections of jingoistic governments who promised immediate responses. The resulting air war devastated the aviation forces for both nations and heavily damaged border infrastructure. As later revealed in a mass hack, the incident had been caused by Russian provocateurs and mercenaries and the flames of rage fanned by Russian hackers. The resulting protests and angers saw the collapse of both Polish and Ukrainian governments in the flames of mass civil unrest. In the chaos, a number of retired soldiers from the former Polish-Ukrainian Peace Force Brigade met up with their old comrades and after a few drinks, hatched a daring plan. Sneaking into a number of aviation museums, lightly guarded airfields and old warehouses, the former soldiers made off with a number of aircraft and formed their own mercenary unit.
Despite the unconventional nature of the unit, the gumption of its personnel has allowed them to achieve a surprising amount of success despite the older nature of their aircraft. Their small bomber force in particular has stood out as a major factor for their successful operations, as well as the cobbled together nature of their EWAR/ELINT assets working to achieve some battlefield control. Flush with Chilean pesos following operations in the Atacama Desert, the unit was able to purchase a few surplus Fulcrums and other ATA assets to supplement their diverse fleet even further. Apart from a die-hard refusal to work with Russia or any Russian company, the unit is willing to take almost any contract, their goal is to acquire more funds to purchase more surplus bombers.
Jastreb
With deteriorating global conditions, the close link between the former Yugosphere has been dubbed by many political scientists and economists as the “South European Miracle”. Beginning on the tail end of the 2008 financial crisis, a number of economic ventures between the former Yugoslavian nations was launched to try and boost the economies of the constituent nations. Chief among them was an attempt to consolidate the arms industry, which had been badly divided following the 90’s wars. Using the old SOKO brand, this new conglomerate merged more than a dozen various arms manufactures across the Balkans into the New PanSOKO brand. With the recent incorporation of various Hellenic industries into PanSOKO the company is poised to continue its meteoric rise toward being on of Europe’s top 10 defense businesses.
PanSOKO made a name for itself the past decade and a half as a manufacturer of cheap Soviet style weapons built to a higher quality. New G-4 Super Galebs rolled off the assembly line and were seen all through the Middle East in the war against ISIS. PanSOKO really made a name for itself though through its strategic partnership program however. Teaming up with India, it has become a premier upgrader of MIG-21 fighters, with the new Bison model taking the world by storm.
Partnerships with Russian Helicopters and United Aircraft have allowed PanSOKO to also manufacturer Fulcrum fighters and KA-29 AWECs. The company has also reportedly signed a private deal witn a recent deal with EADS and the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau , however details on the project are still a secret at this time. In the conflicts between Bulgaria and Romania, the Ukrainian-Polish Border Conflict, the Kamchatka Civil War, the PetraNovaská War of Independence and many other 21st century conflicts have seen PanSOKO equipment used.
With the revival of the Yugoslavian arms industry under the revitalized PanSOKO brand, it seemed inevitable that a new Balkan mercenary unit would fill the niche for the company to demonstrate its products around the world. That solution would be Jastreb. Based on volunteers from the various governments in the Balkans, Jastreb serves as not only a testbed for PanSOKO products, but as a training unit for the various government’s pilots. This allows Jastreb to underwrite costs being partially government affiliated, and given the units experimental nature, allows it to enter into contracts which might not make as much money, so long as it trains the pilots and gets the gear tested as well. By showing off its new products, PanSOKO also is usually able to come away from most dealings with several billion in new sales.
Guoguang or True Kuomintang
With the chaos in China following the brief war with Taiwan, some of the island saw an opportunity that they’d been waiting generations for. With Beijing struggling to keep hold on the country, some saw this as the opportunity to strike, especially with the recent nuclear armament of Taiwan. A small splinter group of the Kuomintang initiated the long dormant, and assumed forgotten Project Guoguang and began an attempt to reconquer China. Landing their forces in the southern parts of China, the TK have managed to secure a small foothold in Hainan, but were recently bogged down.
Needing more resources and not receiving anymore personnel from Taiwan, the TK have begun to look outside the box for solutions. Now enjoying local air superiority over the Hainan, they’ve dispatched a squadron of fighters to embark in mercenary work around the world. Not only to secure funds, to find possible allies among the people of the world for their glorious war of request. They will not let something like being declared a terrorist organization by the UN, US and others, nor rumors of harsh treatment of those on Hainan, nor their alleged association with criminals like Hex 43 dissuade them.
Lacking ground attack assets or even tankers, the TK have one overwhelming advantage they can offer in their mercenary services, air superiority. Their fighters and their pilots are top notch and are more than happy to ply their skills for the right price.
.....
That's all I've found for now, but I can keep everyone in the loop more as we discover different PMCs. Its a pretty diverse market out there and a lot of people have different skills they're trying to bring to the table.
Now about possibly getting a transfer out of that cramped SK60?
