While drunkenly trying to set someone's clothes on fire is a bit of a dickish thing to do, it doesn't merit a cigar in the eye in this poster's opinion

China’s Guangzhou Evergrande have been charged by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) after fans unfurled a banner with the words “Annihilate British Dogs” during their Asian Champions League match against Hong Kong’s Eastern on Tuesday.

The banner, which read in full “Annihilate British Dogs, Eradicate Hong Kong Independence Poison”, was displayed late in Guangzhou’s 6-0 win over the Hong Kong champions.

Same.

Birmingham's Paul Robinson is actually older than keeper Paul Robinson which makes it seem even more strange.

Just a question, but if the ref had seen that, could have he had blown for a penalty because it was in the area or since it was a dead ball it is only a cardable offense?

Think the rule on this is a goal followed by a red card and a penalty until all the blues were sent off and relegated following a points deduction for not fielding enough players in the next game

I think it's an indirect free kick from the point of offense. May be wrong, but think it's happened before.

I think it's just a card and nothing else? Play was stopped, so it would be the same as a player taking his shirt off after a goal, but, you know, worse.

GutBomb

Dude?
That makes me wonder what happens if a player takes off his shirt in the run of play do they stop the game and award a free kick or do they just play advantage and wait for the next stoppage and issue a card?

I'm sure there was a report at the time he was actually arrested for obstructing the officers rather than anything to do with the investigation but that doesn't seem to have been mentioned again.

Poor bugger, the stigma about mental illness in football is nearly as bad as the one about homosexuality - I hope I;m wrong but this might be the end of his career.

quote:

Eight of the professional football clubs contacted by the independent inquiry into the game’s sexual-abuse scandal have failed to respond and now risk disciplinary action unless they tell the investigators what they know, the Guardian can reveal.

The Football Association is ready to step in and has the power to impose sanctions if it considers the clubs who have failed to comply – missing two separate deadlines over the past four months and displaying a level of non-cooperation described as “deeply concerning” by one specialist child-abuse lawyer – are threatening to undermine the investigation into what the organisation’s chairman, Greg Clarke, has described as the worst crisis he can remember in the sport.

...

Letters have also been sent to every club – a figure close to 20 – linked to the scandal in media coverage to establish if they are holding their own reviews and, if not, asking for the reasons why. Again, the relevant clubs – including Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Southampton, Aston Villa, Blackpool and Crewe Alexandra – have been asked to submit their evidence to help Sheldon’s own fact-finding mission, with a view to submitting his report to the FA early next year. The terms of reference state the FA will make public as much as is legally possible.
