I'm doing some AI to A) learn how several of these characters work and B) get some easy lootboxes from several heroes I have almost at the next level. Man, the enemy AI is lazer focused on the objectives while the ally AI ignores the objectives as hard as they possibly can. The AI does not respond to pings by the way

I got my first Legendary and my first two heroes from boxes tonight. The legendary was a duplicate mount of one I'm pretty sure I got for free in the first place (the unicorn?) and I owned both the champs. Thanks, Blizzard.

On the one hand I now own so many heroes thanks to the megabundle plus assorted gold grinding that the chances of me getting a hero I don't have in a lootbox are vanishingly slim. On the other hand, that's more shards in the bank. The question is whether I want to spend all 1600 on an announcer or Azmodunk.

Hi, Overwatch dude peeking in. How many heroes do people usually have if they have played the game like 100, 200, 500 hours and not spent any real money? And how long did it take last year to get that 20-something heroes that you now get by installing the game and doing a few matches?

I've been playing the game semi-regularly since right at the end of Beta and after opening my bajillion boxes last night, where I got like 1 hero total, I have 58/65 heroes iirc. I bought the beginner bundle way back when and that was like 5?? heroes, but none since that. It definitely took a while to get a good number of heroes, but there were also only like 25 total heroes when I started so it was all a bit different. If you concentrated on older heroes you could get a good number pretty quickly though cuz they were only like a couple thousand gold each. I also had like 34k gold before 2.0 so I could have bought a few more.

I remember getting a couple heroes for free doing some sort of promotional "recruit a friend thing" which by the way if anyone wants one https://battle.net/recruit/VQ2RK7RGHX there you go, which gets you Raynor, a stimpack, and at level 10 you get Sylvanas for free as well, and then I used like $20 in Amazon credit to buy some sort of pack with like a half dozen more, and then I guess the rest was just gold. So from the last Nexus challenge to now...and getting the megabundle has me at like 50-something, so apparently I bought quite a few with gold.

You get maybe 400 gold a day (on average) through quests, and about 100 per hour of solid playing, so you can get 500-600 per day for no real effort. The total value of each of the megabundles is easily 120-150k gold. Heroes go on sale weekly, but not for gold (only the real money price is half off). I've been playing since beta started and have 90% of the roster, but I've probably bought a third of it for real money during sales. Mind you, that's like $70 spent over two years so it's not exactly a lot, and you can do the same thing without spending anything, it'll just be slower. What the enemy Zarya did was always stand in the middle of fights so he could absorb as much damage as possible while also shielding the other tank if we ever focused them, this made us waste extra time while she melted us. The two tanks acted as such a good buffer while our Zarya would wait until the healers were attacked to bubble them so myself as a taunt Varian would just melt too fast to act as a good buffer for our ranged. Plus early game you can kinda dive towers to get lots of free energy to bully your lane opponent. That's what happened to me but I could be super wrong about it.

So following the advice from a few pages back I tried Auriel's Sacred Sweep build. Really good stuff, you get to deal tons of damage because no one respects your Q which in turns gives you very good sustain, regardless of your bestow hope target. Resurrect is actually better now that you don't have to channel it. You just have to be careful when doing it in the middle of a teamfight because it paints a huge target for your enemies, kinda like chromie's temporal loop or zagara's maw. Righteous Assault might warrant a slight nerf tbh.

Before 2.0 I had around 14 heroes, playing the game casually peeking in every now and then and missing out on a lot of quests while having played since beta. It's probably like 200 hours or something? I would probably have had more gold if I had been more diligent with my questing, but most of the heroes haven't really been super interesting to me, so I haven't really felt compelled to have a go at it. Haven't spent any money on the game. How long it took to get 20 heroes depends a lot on whether you actually like the cheap heroes. All of the new heroes are a lot more expensive than some of the cheap old Heroes like Muradin or Valla. But it definitely took way too long and good riddance to that poo poo.

It's super dumb that all loot is broken down into tabs and there's no "All" tab. Thankfully, there's a workaround: Before:  After:  All you have to do is put a space in the search field. Credit to this redditor

I've been having a lot of fun with Genji, mainly through the Swift Strike build that was posted here earlier. Though that being said, I don't know when you would really double down on a Shuriken build for him, since it takes away from his bread and butter so much. I see his Q more as a poking tool, so trying to build that into being his main way of dealing damage seems a bit too risky for my liking. Also, hot take; spacing out Shuriken tosses between his auto attacks instead of hurling all three charges at once helps a great deal in maximizing his DPS.

I enjoy the shuriken build more in games where the enemy has some good hard CC. In those games I tend to be using Swift Strike only to execute or to escape, so I tend to poke a lot more with Shuriken. Also, when you're on the chase for a kill the triple shuriken extra damage talent is huge. It also works on camps and structures, which greatly increases his ability to help during a siege.

If you're a new player and have any desire to play Unranked or Ranked you kind of need to pick up the flex pack, you're going to get the 4-5 pick slot and have to fill constantly. Not having warrior/support available because the one or two you have are banned or taken is not going to stop people from raging out.

I just had a QM comp of Morales/Tass/Chen/TLV/Genji. I understand QM will be QM, and the match itself was a pretty typical low-MMR clown party. We even loving won despite being up against a far more reasonable comp. So I can't really legitimately complain. But for some reason, this specific weird QM comp above all weird QM comps feels like the game yelling at me to get over my draft anxiety and at least play unranked sometimes. I mean I know it's the RNG of the matchmaker, not some sign from the heavens. But drat if it doesn't feel like it.
