I just caught up on Immortal Hounds, and hoolllyy shitttt, it needs a platinum trophy for biggest nosedive. I was really excited about the unique premise and incredibly creative setting, and remained hopeful as things got increasingly stupid. The core cast was fun, and their relationships in a world without death were interesting. But now it's full-on molestey blood-boob suckling bananas. It's full of the kind of edgelord garbage Hellsing would pull, but Hellsing had some self-awareness about it's trash nature. The guy's previous manga, Uwagaki, was really charming, and it is incredibly frustrating that this rolling shitpile hasn't been axed by the editors. Set the man free from this self-started garbage fire!

I think they show that, in spite of all of the gags/humor the main characters are party to/the cause of, they're still competent adventurers and aren't new to the lifestyle. I also think that it's nice to see some different group dynamics and motivations in play once in a while. As for the party's leader, he definitely seems like a potential candidate for a minor antagonist in the immediate future. I could be off base though. Also, despite finding the other characters interesting, I do hope we get back to the main crew soon! Monthly's really make it tough to wait. And, while not related to the story, I'm happy that Dungeon Meshi is a US release so I can actually support Kui Ryoko. I just hope it does well enough so it doesn't get abandoned 2 volumes in like Moyashimon did, or any number of other comics. Heck, the lack of announcements for a comic like Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, which sold well enough to get 14 volumes and 4 omnibuses, the last of which was released in 2016, is already making me concerned about Dark Horse releasing the rest of the series in the states. Adding another series to the pile, especially one I'm really a fan of, would not be fun.

Honestly at this point it feels like ajin got less edgy (maybe cuz of author abandonment?) and immortal hounds got even edgier Was never too much into either but at least immortal hounds started with a fun premise for a few chapters I really liked the first chapter of Tokyo ghoul tho, then it kind of plummeted into uhhh whatever it is now

since i am old and jaded it takes a lot to surprise me when it comes to manga but the fried hand teleportation scene in ajin was pretty sweet. the premises to uwagaki and immortal hounds are both painfully stupid but IH is mildly interesting enough to keep me reading it

I know I'm late to the party, but I realized I had forgotten about I Am A Hero and I spent tonight binging from the point I had left off (the first bit with Nakata's group in the office building) to the ending. The resolution of the Kurisu/Takashi/Nakata subplots helps the quieter Hideo outro feel like less of an anticlimax, imo! I was glad Auntie survived even if making her young again felt real unnecessary. I also really wish that Nakata hadn't been a fukken molester, because he did some legit cool things but he was such a lovely person that I really didn't want him to get on that helicopter, especially when that poor high-schooler girl got killed off as an afterthought (which also completely negated the one (1) thing Hideo did to help anyone during that whole clusterfuck. Also, cool as Oda's brother was, that last bit of him and Oda in the zombie brainspace was reaaaal unfortunate.
