Basically, he has excellent poke with his chain lightning that steadily wears his opponent's health down, then he has a root with his wolf and a finisher with windfurry once they're low enough, and on top of that he has good sustain with his passive, which gives health every certain number of hits. Played by a good player he was very hard to push out of a lane early on.

Thrall is still very good, but most teams now pick two warriors so it might not fit to pick a bruiser. And if a bruiser is on the table for your team comp, you should just pick ragnaros.

Zarya feels so much more at home in this game than in Overwatch Also what is the... purpose of Murky? I like him a lot a character and his animations are cute and funny and I love how overall goofy he is. But he seems weak and is so easy to kill. How do you play him properly? 'second warrior' is really better read as 'self-sufficient fighter'. So Thrall, Tyrael, Sonya, et al, who are capable of intervening an enemy's push towards the back lines while also being durable enough to absorb a lot of garbage thrown their way. They don't need to bring as much CC as dedicated tanks need to, or, alternatively, you have two bruisers who bring a moderate amount of CC each but these setups are a bit harder to support. Conversely, picking something like a Johanna/ETC double-tank setup puts a lot of strain on your assassins to compensate for the damage falloff from having a Thrall or Ragnaros instead.

When death timers are so long, he can magnify a small out of position error into death. His durability is hard to predict. For the first 25% of his health, his HP bar falls dramatically so it's easy (for sub-Plat players) to miscalculate how easily they can take him down. Attack the "low" HP Artanis! He's almost dead! He's a bruiser who can deal a ton of objective/monster damage with Amateur Opponent, which is nice on BoE and Infernal Shrines, especially when you need to clear that shaman pushing top lane before joining your team at the objective.

Thrall is a heat seeking missile for people that are trying to walk out of a fight. He does the cleanup thing but has the bulk to actually participate in a team fight unlike genji.

It helps if they have fatty tanks on the other team. Or just if you are going full Q build, well, you have 5 charges of them so if you hit any of them it's a bonus. It also works on bosses and stuff.

Thrall is basically this game's Ryu; he does everything relevant mostly well (poke, CC, burst, diving, escape, sustain) but fails to excel at anything. Playing Thrall well means knowing at all times what the enemy doesn't want you to be doing, then doing that. Both of his ults are haymakers, too. Thrall good.

Curse, Sky Temple, BHB are my favorites. Hotslogs says Towers and Garden also. Your team would do well to have 1 tank 1 heal 1 mage + either another frontline or ranged AA based on enemy team. Sam kinda takes the place of a specialist. He sometimes takes the role of Nova, which means if he's on your team he will suck and if he's on the enemy team you will hate yourself. He'll do serious work gold and below, no matter the comp. I rode him to Plat 5 and that's when I had to start being judicious for when I used him, since folks start being able to spot stealth shimmer and I can only pick him later in draft and if he fits in the comp.
