Phantom Classic Radio Patrol "This article about the history of drivers licenses posted:New York was the first state to register automobiles in 1901. Licenses to operate vehicles came later. New York started issuing badges to chauffeurs in 1903. In that same year Massachusetts and Missouri became the first states to require all drivers, not just professionals, to have a license. Other states followed suit gradually. For example, New York state began issuing paper licenses with personal data and photographs in 1910, however there was no state-wide legal requirement for a driver’s license until 1924. The last state to require a license to drive was South Dakota in 1954." I was curious. Rip Kirby Big Ben Bolt

...and the pitch! posted:There sure isn't. I wouldn't generally put 'interesting plot lines' in its pros list tho. I'm not sure if I could name another plot. In the Arlo and Janis book, Jimmy Johnson says that he considers himself more of a comedian than a playwright. It is mostly jokes, but I think the fact that the characters have been aging at a (relatively) realistic pace lends itself to some light storytelling. One reason I've had an eye on this storyline in particular is because it felt like it could be a very natural way to write a happy ending to the strip itself; it's been running for almost 32 years, Johnson is in his mid-sixties, and I can't imagine he'd let it become a legacy strip. Someone upthread mentioned that they think of Curtis as existing in a sort of perpetual mid-90s, and I think that absolutely works for that strip. I can't think of an ideal time frame in which to set an unaging Arlo and Janis, though. Arlo and Janis Arlo and Janis Classic (Mar. 13, 1995) Garfield Classic (Mar. 12-13, 1985)

Folding in a little storytelling as desired seems really hard to me. It's a credit to the writing that it seems effortless. We've certainly seen plenty of effort from hands of ham in other strips.

OK! Ok! Okay! He-Man and Star Trek! I've been terrible at posting these. But today I revamped my whole process, so you should be able to expect much more regular posting of these dumb things from here on out. I hope you even remember what's been going on! Masters of the Universe This comic has the best burns. I always assumed that Skeletor's whole face and skull were all bone, and then he had a bony neck, and then at some point merged into flesh somewhere under that cowl and that it would probably be super gross to look at. Today we discover that he has a fleshy neck and the line between bone and flesh is actually kind of hard to see. Maybe even his whole mandible is flesh? But I was right about it being gross! Star Trek Yeesh, speaking of gross fleshy necks...
